November 21, 200817 yr Appears to be a downsizing thing. http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/towert...downey-dep.html I will miss him. I thought his "lists" were pretty funny, and he seemed pretty Sox-friendly.

November 21, 200817 yr I don't think he really added anything with his columns and didn't find him too interesting. I'm sure they could get better columnists to write than Downey.
November 22, 200817 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) I don't think he really added anything with his columns and didn't find him too interesting. I'm sure they could get better columnists to write than Downey. I dont think their plan was to get a better columnist than Downey, they are just cutting payroll and turning their newspaper into a piece of s*** filled with pictures and little notes that explain the pictures.Newspapers dont seem to think it is important to have sports columnist's write up pieces that are well written and longer than a paragraph length in the future of print.
November 24, 200817 yr I came back from missouri for the first time since the paper change. I was shocked. The trib is a piece of s***.
November 24, 200817 yr QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Clearing cap-space for Jay? You could only hope

November 24, 200817 yr QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Clearing cap-space for Jay? That's what Waddle and Silvy were thinking. Well, maybe not thinking, but wondering.
