December 11, 200817 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3761008 They're going after him hard. Burnett is expected to decide this week. I'd be surprised if that 5th year doesn't seal the deal.
December 11, 200817 yr ESPN already reported that the Braves would go 5 years, and that they were talking about more money than Zambrano got. How stupid are these people?
December 11, 200817 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) ESPN already reported that the Braves would go 5 years, and that they were talking about more money than Zambrano got. How stupid are these people? Dude, he throws like 95 miles per hour! And he pitched a no hitter 8 years ago! If you're not willing to pay a 36 year old AJ Burnett somewhere between 16 and 18 million dollars then there's something wrong with YOU!
December 11, 200817 yr This is going to be a deal teams regret and I love Burnett most than probably anyone on this site (cause he has ridiculous stuff). I assume if the Yanks are still going after Burnett that it means the initial rumors were false and that they haven't in fact inked Lowe.
December 11, 200817 yr The Yankees have raised their offer to 5-yr $91m, an equal contract to Carlos Zambrano.
December 11, 200817 yr QUOTE (HawkDJ @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) The Yankees have raised their offer to 5-yr $91m, an equal contract to Carlos Zambrano. Wow...that is all I can say. Give a pitcher with a history of being injured a 5-year contract for ridiculous money....Carl Pavano part dos???
December 11, 200817 yr This doesnt bother me b/c the Sox werent going after him. There is no way AJ Burnett would stay injury free and there is no way he all of a sudden harnesses his erraticness (word?) pitching in NY. Still, what an atrocious contract. The Yankee$ really do suck.
