Frank Thomas for not and (possibly) Jose Canseco for coming clean and naming names. Others? Canseco is a rat, and while he may be the big whistle-blower, he shouldn't be a hero. He opened his mouth for cash.
February 17, 200917 yr Radomski and McNamee. They got reduced sentences by naming names and realizing that the guys using the stuff in baseball were bigger scum than they were.

February 17, 200917 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) You think they talked for the good of the game? Doesn't matter. When it came down to it, they did the right thing.
February 17, 200917 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) You think they talked for the good of the game? No. But the point I'm making is...a decade ago, guys like Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, they were heroes to a lot of people. At the same time, guys like Radomski and McNamee, who actually dealt with them, knew that they were such scumbags that they kept documents and even blood stained needles so that they wouldn't be the one caught without a chair when the music stopped. So, who comes out of this looking better...the guys who typically you'd call scumbags, illegal drug dealers...realized who the real nasty people were. If nothing else, they look better by comparison, because they didn't trust the real villains.

Do you consider W. Mark Felt to be a rat? How about Bonds and the rest, they took a steroid needle in the ass to make more cash? Seems like they would be pretty big rats.
February 17, 200917 yr The answer is no one and everyone who got a dime based on their steroid-assisted performance.

I'm saying if Jose Canseco, a guy who first said steroids were good for you but changed his tune when he could make more money, is a hero figure to anyone, I really feel sorry for that person. Didn't Canseco a couple months ago regret naming names? Now that ARod is out there, he's thinking another sequel.
