February 22, 200917 yr I have a Compaq Presario C700 lap top. It freezes on start up. It gets all the way to showing the desktop and then freezes. I can't get a virus scan going even in safe mode. It freezes even in safe mode. I tried a system restore and I keep getting an unspecified error message and it won't restore. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance Edited February 22, 200917 yr by EvilJester99

February 22, 200917 yr Author Its about a yr old so not really. Its was working perfectly until earlier today. I left the lid open and it went into a sleep type mode and I came back and it wouldn't wake up so I restarted by the power button and now its acting up. Edited February 22, 200917 yr by EvilJester99
February 22, 200917 yr I had some problems with mine but it was new. They made me take the bottom off over the phone and they installed my extra gigs all sloppy. The memory card was only half way in and hanging out. Fixed it and haven't had a problem since. Mine was freezing up and getting blue screens and everything. Sorry, I'm no help.
February 22, 200917 yr It sounds like that thing that happened in Live Free or Die hard. Whatever you do, do NOT hit Control-Alt-Delete.
February 22, 200917 yr Author Finally figured it out. I had to open MSConfig and shut off a new file that was dled with a windows update. After that it works fine now.

I have an update in Firefox that will not install and just click past it rather than start diagnosing the problem.
