May 2, 200916 yr Second game in a row we aren't hitting anything till late innings. Thome with a monster 3-RBI opposite field double, inches away from being a homer. Podsednik goes 2-4, scores the winning run on a triple by Chris Getz. Last but not least, don't look now but were 12-10 sole possession of AL Central's first place.
May 2, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (tommy @ May 1, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) Dadgummit, you beat me to it! Lo ciento
May 2, 200916 yr Pods gets the infield single, draws the balk, which takes the pitcher's mind of Getz, who gets the job done. Pods has a crappy career slugging percentage though and speed is overrated.
May 2, 200916 yr Buehrle with a quality start and win, Podsednik with 2 hits (including an infield hit and helping to force a balk) and the game winning run, White Sox in 1st place. Just like the good old days. Edited May 2, 200916 yr by whitesoxfan101
May 2, 200916 yr the white sox are my f***in life, and btw my name was based off of pods, love the scotty
May 2, 200916 yr Great job by both Mark and the pen in locking in down to a very dangerous offensive team. It was also really nice to see a win without hitting a homer.
May 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 1, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) Buehrle with a quality start and win, Podsednik with 2 hits (including an infield hit and helping to force a balk) and the game winning run, White Sox in 1st place. Just like the good old days. To be fair, he didn't force a balk. That guy just has a bad move. Meanwhile, I was surprised how much more attention Pods got when he reached base than any other guy on the team.
May 2, 200916 yr Really love winning whenever it's 4 to 3. Means excitement, but also your pitching was good enough against a challenge...and your hitting probably didnt face a total dud up there but was good enough at some point when it mattered. Edited May 2, 200916 yr by Princess Dye
May 2, 200916 yr I think we all owe Ron Washington a big thank you for last night. Talk about a boneheaded move by taking out Feldman. Maybe the results would have been the same if Feldman stayed in, but taking him out right there was retarded. I know for a fact if I was Feldman, I wouldn't have given Washington the ball. f*** that, I'm having a great game, and as soon as I give up a couple of hits, you take me out? That's complete BS. I wonder what Nolan Ryan thought about that move last night from Washington... I am 99% sure Ryan didn't like that move one bit. However, as a White Sox fan, I'll take it! This was only his second start of the season and was on a pitch count (per the Texas broadcast). Plus, Thome can't normally hit lefties. I don't think it was that bad of a move.

Yea but if it was almost anyone else on our team, they wouldn't have even bothered with a pickoff move. Even if it's more mystique from his former years than it is reality now, pitchers still think of him as annoying/dangerous when hes on base -- and that's advantage us.

I don't think it was that bad of a move. He threw 77 pitches and had one out to go... It wasn't the pitch count that led to Washington taking him out, it was over managing. Feldman also had Thome's number on that night as well.

We've all seen that act before... cough, cough, Javy Vazquez, cough.

May 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (scenario @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) You seem to be ignoring the fact that Feldman was starting to come apart. It doesn't really matter how well he was doing before that inning. We've all seen that act before... cough, cough, Javy Vazquez, cough. I'd hardly say he was falling apart. He got two outs, gave up a dorksnort single to Getz, Fields had a solid hit, and than he walked Quentin. And he handled Thome pretty damn easily in his first two AB's. All pitchers usually run into some trouble, but that is quite the stretch to say he's falling apart. Who knows, he may have very well given up a grand slam to Thome. But it was his game and I'm inclined to believe that the outcome might have been different. It's BS when managers take out starting pitchers when it's their game to win.
May 2, 200916 yr QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) And in his first outing he went 79 pitches. So what, shouldn't the pitch count increase with every outing than instead of decrease? You've just proven my point.

May 2, 200916 yr I was listening on XM to Rangers radio announcers and they said it looked to them as if he was "coming apart" for the first time in his brief stint there. Just FWIW...
