Owens was a speed-only player and Terrero wasn't a prospect when he came here. Yes there have been busts, but that happens. Sometimes you have to take the chance, and there's no better time to take the chance on a young player than during a poor season in the middle of a f***ed up economy.

I don't think being demoted has ever helped anybody's confidence.

I've mentioned this before, I would hate to see Beckham move to third. He should be playing short, second at the very least. I would love to see him at short and Alexei in center but I don't think that will happen.

 

Right now, Alexei offers the most complete package at SS, if he can get his act together.

 

Personally, I don't care where Beckham plays as long as he provides the offensive production we are expecting from him. All that stuff about him play 3B would diminish his value is BS. If you can hit you can hit. Michael Young provided great offensive production from the SS spot. Now that he plays 3B, do you think his value just plummeted and he doesn't have as much value anymore? Give me a break.

Anyway, I don't deal with Josh on a daily basis. Who knows exactly what's going through his head? I'd imagine he's working on it. He may well just need time.

 

Yes, I would rather suck it up with our terrible bench than to see Fields continue to struggle and get run out of town by the team/fans. Of course, I truly believe we might see Beckham playing 3B come next week.

Fields has been a huge dissapointment so far, but if this team isn't going anywhere and you might as well give him a chance. Wilson Betemit and Jason Nix aren't long term answers, Viciedo isn't ready, and I don't want to see Beckham at third.

KW is Fields biggest fan. If he sends him down, you know there is no other choice. I also think if they send him down and he spends the next 3 months in Charlotte, his chances of every being the White Sox everyday 3rd baseman are slim to none.

 

Getz is looking good again.

That's it, I'm convinced Chris Getz Josh Fields is simply not a major league caliber player. He'll never adapt to what pitchers are doing to him, we ought to just dump him.

Crede was pretty damn good in 2001. Rowand got benched in CF for Carl Everett in 2003. When Garland was 26 he was a world champion.

Crede was 11-50 in 2001, with 0 HR and 7 RBI in 17 games. Aaron Rowand already played 180+ games in 2003 before he got benched. Garland was drafted out of high school.

If you are too fragile being able to handle getting demoted because you suck and you need to get better, you shouldn't be anywhere near a MLB team.

 

However, he did contemplate retirement at the age of 24.
