That matchup reminds me of Jenks battling Bagwell when everyone, including Jeff, knew a high fastball was coming and that he wouldn't be able to hit it. It was sad watching it then, and it's sad watching it now with Thome.

 

People keep wanting to squeeze just a few more years out of some of older guys. Watching a great baseball player a few years past their ability to generate good bat speed is very sad.

You should check out the 2nd half stats and revist that claim. Dye in the first half was one of our best hitters. Right now he is a larger version of Brent Lillibridge.
