December 17, 200916 yr QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Nyswaner wrote, Demme directed, and Hanks and Denzel starred in a very poignant film that peripherally was about that, yes. My contention is that Tom Hanks won in the end. Denzel finally accepted him. What greater victory than that?

December 17, 200916 yr health is important. You are what you eat, so I eat a lot of preservatives and drink alcohol to kill any germs
December 17, 200916 yr Going to eat some ridiculously hot Panang curry this evening. Not sure what that makes me, other than maybe a masochist.
December 17, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) Going to eat some ridiculously hot Panang curry this evening. Not sure what that makes me, other than maybe a masochist. Fire in the hole!
December 17, 200916 yr Dadgummit, my curry was mild and entirely unchallenging. Either the restaurant botched my order or else they gave it away to someone else who is probably a wimpering fetal ball right now.
December 17, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) Curry sucks. Eddy that is. Born in Harvey and went to school in South Holland, the suck notwithstanding.
December 17, 200916 yr QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) 'Zo Spellman was the waste of the draft pick. You all looked past the letter J. What a shame.
December 17, 200916 yr xtc the most triumphant band and XTC the bulls*** teenybopper psychoactive drug are two very different things that should not be confused with one another.
December 17, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 08:50 AM) Who the heck was xtc? Very disappointed in your amnesia of a great band. I take it you were not a fan of alternative music when it was truly alternative (pre-Nirvana/Q101)?
December 17, 200916 yr Ugh, you break my heart. Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, and their coterie are the best thing to come out of England since the British Invasion. Edited December 17, 200916 yr by FlaSoxxJim
December 17, 200916 yr QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 10:08 AM) Tough to forget about Oranges and Lemons. Great stuff. Simpleton put that album over for the masses, but there is not a bad track on it. Nonsuch was less immediately accessible but it eventually became my preferred album. And AV2 Wasp Star. . . Gawd how amazing would that one be if Dave was still in the band.
December 17, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) ...if Dave was still in the band. Rumors circulated that he left for fiscal reasons.
December 17, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) Quitting for monetary reasons seems petty. Perhaps, but supposedly he was getting a reduced share of royalties due to lack of composition credits or something like that. We've seen things like that before - starts with money and turns into hurt feelings.
December 17, 200916 yr On the money on Dave Gregory. Andy's self-imposed exile from recording during his record contract squabble left him out in the cold. I love the Apple Venus albums, and I think it's some of their best writing ever, but Dave's arranging and multi-instrumental wizardry could have taken them to teh next level.
