What is everyone's thoughts about Jordan Danks coming to the major leagues in a big role. He seems defensively, with a few tweeks in hitting he could be a great player.

He needs more time. It sounds like the glove is there, but right now he is putting up Josh Fields/Joe Borchard type strike out numbers, without the power. He has got to get that swing fixed, or he would put up Mark Reynolds type K numbers.

Strikeouts are a concern.

 

Other than that, he's progressing through the system very nicely (and quickly).

 

But I'm hoping the team doesn't rush him too fast and screw up his development.

I could see him starting off in AA again this year also, depending on how he looks in ST. He really didn't perform well in BHam last summer, but some of that was injury related.

He won't be hitting better than .250 in the majors with his K numbers in the minors. He really needs more time in AA or AAA. At least a half season, if not the entire season. He is a great looking prospect, but he still has major holes in his game that need fine-tuning. Frankly, I would rather have Jones play than Danks, although that is not ideal, either.

My thought is that would be both the worst thing we could simulateously do for Jordan and our team

I want to see Jordan obliterate the Southern league for half a season (and cutting down the strikeouts would be nice) before he's even considered for a spot on the big club.
