Got the HTC one yesterday. Looks beautiful. Let me know if anyone finds fun shut to do with it.

I'm so tempted to buy that thing. By doing so I'd have to renew my sprint contract which would be a terrible idea. Only 2.5 months to go for this dang contract to expire. :/

Yes. Enjoying the little Google things, like their type correction. It's a very fast phone. But, the iPhone touch screen is still the best imo. Love the camera software on here, and blinkfeed really was easy to ignore.

I loved my switch from iOS to Android. I didn't mind Blinkfeed, though I didn't want it to be my default homescreen. I ultimately began to use Nova Launcher in place of the Sense Launcher; not so much to avoid Blinkfeed, though it does that, but because it is more customizable and I can just flat out put more stuff on each screen.

What exactly do you mean by that? That the iPhone screen is better because it's better for one handed use or that the iPhone screen is more responsive?

Because if it's the latter, I honestly don't think there are any real differences between touch screen responsiveness on today's flagship phones and tablets. Most of the OEMs use comparable touch screen digitizers and glass screens (some variant of Corning Gorilla glass).

AT&T has a loophole right now.

You can get a phone for 50% off even if you do their month to month plans. So I just ordered an HTC One for $340 with overnight shipping. I'll just never activate my SIM and cancel the month-to-month (no ETF) after I get the phone.

I'm just hoping AT&T doesn't notice and ships the phone.

I've been posting at some Android/tech forums and good lord are these people crazy. First there was Apple vs Android, now there is Samsung vs HTC. Christ, who gives a f***. People won't acknowledge the shortcomings of the product they purchased because they're crazy. I've noticed that buyers of the One/S4 are roughly equally defensive of their purchase on these forums, but Samsung people tend to be Samsung people while HTC One buyers are not loyal to HTC so much as they are to the One. Either way, I guess this just happens with all consumer products no matter how subtle the differences, etc.

Dude, Nexus master race. Samsung is s*** and HTC is Hitler. And I'm pretty sure Apple were the original Nazis.

Go read http://reddit.com/r/androidcirclejerk. It's the best subreddit ever (and most of it is sarcasm that mocks exactly what you said above).

lulz

Other than detracting from potentially good conversation, the thing that gets me is that you know somebody will read this rogue post about a product and then they will pull the trigger.

I mean, what can you possibly argue about when talking about the S4 and HTC One? That the S4 is made of cheap plastic and that the HTC One has a gimmicky Ultrapixel camera? Who cares?

I can understand discussing the advantages of different operating systems as they're all fairly different, but these are both Android phones. They more or less do the same stuff. The only thing that's different is that they look a bit different on the software side and very different from a physical standpoint. But that's supposed to be a good thing about Android.

Camera, replaceable battery, SD card slot, price/standard storage, processor speed, screen size, AMOLED vs LCD, timing of software updates, availability of accessories, the list goes on and on.

I keep trying to tell these people that they are REALLY similar phones and that both have significant pluses and minuses and you just have to decide if the flaws harm you more than the average person and if the pluses help you more than the average guy. For some folks, the perceived negatives aren't negative at all when you will never know the difference.

I activated 4G LTE on my Nexus 4 yesterday, only to find that I don't get good LTE coverage area from T-Mobile. I got 1 bar. Ping was around 30-40 ms, but speeds were much slower than HSPA+ at 3-4 mbps. Back to HSPA+ for me.

Why not just use the mail app?

And I am guessing user error.

Yeah they're two completely separate entities now and have been since late 2011.

Google wouldn't know what to do with Motorola Solutions anyhow. They usually make radios for the government.

Because the Gmail app on iOS looks way better.

You can't even attach anything outside of photos onto your emails in iOS anyways. Everything's sandboxed. There isn't a system app that handles things that aren't photos, so you just don't have the option to attach them. More like developer error if you ask me.

I seriously have to think of a way to reach a file I downloaded off a email that isn't a photo. First you need to have an app that can open the file format (whether it be PDF or something else) and then you need to hope to god that the app's developer put in an option to allow you to email documents within the app. Otherwise, you'd be completely out of luck if you aren't jailbroken and don't have access to the file system. Even if you do have access to the file system, you have to find where the app stored the saved PDF and then hope your file system browser (I use iFile) allows you to email or Dropbox the file. If they don't, well too damn bad. You're not attaching any files to your emails.

This is by far the biggest issue I have with iOS. Sure, security is one thing, but security shouldn't come at the cost of usability and a major use case at that. The thing is, Apple can have security and still allow users to attach other files as well. Just build a system application that handles documents like they did with the camera roll. Then all these problems go away and nobody will have to depend on an app dev or having to jailbreak just to attach a PDF to an email.

The Windows 8.1 preview is officially available for download. Installing right now.

I attach files from Box and dropbox to my emails in IOS all the time. Not sure where the error is coming from.

If that doesnt work for you cant you send them sharefile or Box links?

Let me know if it's decent. At some point soon I need a new PC although the funds to actually buy one may have been sequestered.

You're able to do that because those applications can grab your file since it knows where it is and doesn't have to scour outside of its own application directory (sandbox) to find those files.

Imagine this though. You get a PDF from someone else and you're told you need to fill it out and sign it (this is one of the best things about tablets, I don't have to print it out, sign it, and then scan it). So you open it in your email application which allows you to open it in an application to sign the document. So you sign the document and save it. If the application you have doesn't give you an option to email the signed document or Dropbox it, you're sorely out of luck. Because #1, you don't know exactly where this document is in the file system and #2 you probably don't have access to this file from other applications if you're not jailbroken and have a file browser.

The issue here is that Apple is depending on application developers to pass intents between applications. Those should be handled by the OS. Not individual application developers since you don't know what you end up getting.

I sign documents all the time but they are usually with something like verisign where I just hit a workflow button.

This is one of the reasons I own a macbook air, editing contracts and what not require a laptop for me.

It's alright. More customization options (wallpaper in start menu, bigger or smaller live tiles). But the new options are kind of hidden and I actually had to Google to find them. Unintuitive options by MS, what new?

I'm just pissed I lost all my custom tile shortcuts. Now I gotta make 10 of them again.

Moved over one of our lines (my wife's) to Verizon. Will move mine in September when my contract with Sprint is up. What are the chances they get the Sony Honami/i1? .0001% or less?
