March 2, 201016 yr Author QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) I thought maggs came up in 98 not 96...that would have put him at his 6 in 2004 and kenny came in at 2000 Magglio came up in 1997. Kenny took over after the 2000 season.
March 2, 201016 yr QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) I know JR's philosphy generally speaking is it's not so much as the $ in bad contracts as much as the YEARS. I've heard him say this many times about bad contracts they signed. Although with how bright Beckhams future looks you wonder if they'll make an exception this time around. Seems like the type of guy you want to build your team around for the next 10 years. That philosophy generally applies to pitchers and it's one that most everyone agrees with.
March 2, 201016 yr For what it's worth, I would easily offer Gordon this contract right now. It's so team friendly in the long run with the options.

March 2, 201016 yr QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) At the time, I thought the Longoria contract was INSANELY stupid. I was so wrong. I'm gonna say I have a mini man crush on Evan Longoria He just knows how to play the game and its fun to watch him play.
March 2, 201016 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Add Justin Upton to the list of young players getting locked up. http://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/statuses/9884571381 Worth noting for comparison...Beckham came up after the super-2 deadline last year, so Upton is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 years further along the arbitration clock than becksy.
