I find the Flowers pessimism strange considering that people are excusing Teahen because it is only Spring Training. That's a double standard, Flowers will rake in Charlotte.

I'm so thankful that Jones is dialed in. I'd be more then happy to admit i was wrong about him.

Latos looks to have pretty decent stuff.

Latos is great. If he can get a touch more command, he'll be a force in this league.

It is crazy that they are looking at Clayton as their #3 or #4 pitcher.

I still find it hard to believe that he gained about two MPH's on his fastball about two weeks before we traded him last year. This was a guy who was supposed to throw 91, who started averaging 93.

Would you say that Padres got ripped of on that trade?

If yes, would it make it harder for their GM to deal with Kenny in the future?

Yeah, I think Hawk said Young, Poreda, Richard, Latos, and the first reliever that came in today. 2 ex-Sox pitchers anchoring the #2 and #3 spots for them.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was Correia in the #2 spot, not Richard. However, Jon Garland IS listed as their #4 guy on their depth chart. So that's still 2 ex-Sox players in their rotation.

I don't. It is very common actually.

The Padres would pretty well backed into the corner by the trade demands of Peavy. They weren't able to get max value for sure.

The Padres also had zero choice but to move that salary, and were probably ecstatic to find a taker for it at 100% in last year's market, especially after Jake got hurt and couldn't immediately help any team that picked him up.

Edit: Oh, and there's a new GM and front office in San Diego now, so even if Towers was angry with us, the new folks didn't make that trade.

There were plenty of teams who wanted him, but he wasn't willing to play for lots of them.

Do we really think that's true? At least when we read about Towers and KW's talk on trade-deadline day, Kenny was the only one asking about Jake, the others were asking for Gonzalez, Bell.

No one thought they could get him, that's why no one bothered asking. That kind of a move is what makes Kenny, Kenny.

I´m not excusing Teahan at all. He better get it going during the season or finish ST with a strea of some kind. Right now he is absolutely mired in suckage.
