Scott Showenwies

For a little left hander last night he was throwing hard. His fastball was consistenly clocking at 95mph on the Fox Sports net broadcast. I don't know if this was just because he was pumped to pitch for a new team or not but if he can do this every night we would have 4 guys in the Bullpen throwing over 95. And even better 2 from each side(Gordon and Koch from the right side) and Marte and Showenwies from the left.

BTW Koch did well last night in the last inning even though he had no pressure. He got 3 straight outs in the 9th and his fastball was alos hitting in the high 90s.

I've seen Scot consistantly hit 94 on the guns over here in Anaheim.

We got two hard-throwing Lefties in the bullpen with nasty breaking stuff (Marte and Shoney)

A lefty specialist (Wunsch)

and two hard-throwing righties (Gordon and Koch)

If Koch has straightened out his machanics and is throwing that 97-99 heat.

oh boy

If Koch ever does figure it out and starts throwing harder with some movement, our bullpen would be fantastic, especially if our starters consistenly go 6-7 innings.

What we lack right now somewhat is a real righty setup guy, though White could be it...but ideally you'd get Koch to turn it around and then you'd have Koch and Marte setting up Flash

If Koch gets it together (consistantly hitting 98 mph), he's our closer in my book. :headbang

The good thing about Marte is that he is good against Righties too.

I like flash better as the closer, just for the simple reason he has a 96MPH fastball with movement, one of the best curves in the game, and a changeup.

His numbers are actually better against right handers. That slider of his moving in on the hands is an almost impossible pitch to hit hard.

Was Koch in the high 90's yesterday? (I had to miss the game to see Cirque du Soleil with the girlfriend--glad to see I only missed another HR Derby courtesy of KC pitching) That is big news, he has been struggling to hit 94 most of this year. His fastball is pretty straight though, so if he's not getting up to 98-99, he's basically a right-handed Alan Embree. What was his highest reading at last night?

Koch was pitching in the lower to Mid 90's last night. Same stuff as the rest of the year. A scary moment when he gave up a fly to the warning track, but Rowand caught it. All in all not bad. Would have liked to see a K or two though.

Scary thing is that 1-2-3 inning might lead JM to use Koch in closer ballgames.

Yeah mid 90's I think he hit 95 on the Fox Sports net radar on every fastball. To me thats inprovement.

95's not enough for him. Let's hope it's a sign that he's getting stronger and will be at triple-digits before the end of August.

How can a guy throw so hard and not rack up strikeouts. Not even in the Minor Leagues

See, this is a good problem to have....I'd rival our bullpen(sans ROleplayer White) to any other 'Pen in the game....when Koch is right, you have the hard lefty in Marte, hard righty in Gordon and Koch, situational lefty in Wunsch, long relief lefty in Schoeneweis, righty situational/long relief in Ginter, and mop up master (insert name here)

because any major league hitter can hit a straight fastball..why do u think maddux is so good and only throws 88.

hmm...we got some guys in our lineup that can't hit any fastball..

what are talking about..we have one of the best line ups in baseball and they are started to really heat up..ur in the pale hose talk not cubs talk.

If ANYTHING hitting straight fastballs is something we do best... Especially Maggs..

hmmm...maybe i shoulda made that green, most people notice my sarcasm, as most thinkg i post drip with it.

haha my bad... green would help though

man you are funny...i hope you noticed my sarcasm.

Because the Royals were swinging at 1st and 2nd pitches. They wanted to get the game over with.

By the way, what is Show's contract status? I think he's a Boras client, so when his contract is up, I guess that will be the end of his run with us. Hopefully, he isn't an outright FA at the end of the year in case we actually end up finding him useful? Anyone know?
