September 1, 201015 yr At the time of the trade for Jackson, which I supported, I argued that Jackson's real value was that if we made the postseason this year -- and at the time we were in first place -- he could be dominant enough to win games for us in October, and that without him in the rotation our pitching didn't match up well against possible post-season opponents. I didn't think Hudson could be relied on in October this year, and regardless of his success in AZ, I still think that.
September 1, 201015 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) He seriously tried to give that game away by himself. Horrible at bats, horrible defense, horrible game. If it was up to me, in the 9th I would of pinch hit Manny for Carlos and then put Jones in for defense in the bottom of the inning. It worked out fine, but I didnt want him up there taking hacks, even at a pitcher that was obviously struggling I had the same thoughts. Also as I just posted in another thread, Quentin's two misplays caused Jackson to throw more pitches and stressful ones at that. Maybe if he makes those plays Jackson is able to pitch a complete game and allow the bullpen a little rest.
