An industry source said Monday the Yankees have offered Cliff Lee(notes) nearly $140 million over six years, but Lee continues to hold out for a seventh year. Neither Lee’s camp nor the Yankees would confirm those numbers. The Boston Globe has reported the Yankees offered as much as $120 million over five years.

Only the Yankees can afford to do this. I don't see Lee doing all too hot at the tail end of that contract...

I hate the Yankees.

Supposedly the Yankees have yet to make Lee an offer another league source full of s***.

They also signed Neal Cotts.

People are so desperate for information that they will listen to "sources" that are plants from agents to either set the market or gauge the interest in the market. Thus is the information age.

It's pathetic.

For some reason when I read this I was thinking Derrek Lee and I was really giving this thread the side eye.

I'd take a flier on Derek Lee depending on the price.
