Papelbon at $12 million? Ugh, thankfully that didn't happen. (Unless the Red Sox were going to pay a sizable portion of that contract, but if that were the case, why wouldn't they just non-tender him in the first place?)

No thanks. Big contract, big douchebag. I'll pass.

Sureeeeeee. And why the f*** would the A's be a possible destination when they already have a premier closer in Andrew Bailey, who's dirt cheap and not eligible for FA until 2015?

Wonder if they'd have gambled on trying him as a starter?

Doubt it. The A's are not exactly lacking in the SP department. Just more B.S. from that pathetic site.

This would have made sense if we were sending Teahen back in the trade. Then we are only adding $7m to the books and actually saving money in the long run.

That site sucks worse than any prospect to ever enter the Sox farm system!

Not as long as Mike Florio's ProFootballtalk.com is around.

You realize that site doesn't write any material right? It just compiles it all into one place.

The info actually came from Jon Heyman of SI.com.

Don't get the MLBTR bashing. It was garbage a long while back, but since making some changes a few years ago has been one of the most valuable resources on the web for compiling and analyzing anything related to roster moves in a fast and comprehensive manner.

I was kidding, I love MLBTR. It's my 7th most visited site ever according to Chrome.
