June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Reed at #16? lol@the Dodgers They're pretty broke...
June 7, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Yeah, Washington. They'd never have 2 separate franchises move out of there to the Midwest! Funny story. The Nats actually are the 21st team in average attendance this year. Know who's #20? The White Sox. Do the White Sox have the potential to sell out every night? We would if we had Strasburg, Harper and Zimmerman. I know Washington's attendance isn't great now. That's why I said potential.
June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) They're pretty broke... Yep. But he has 3 potential plus pitches from the left side. He will be starting and has a chance to be decent if he sticks.
June 7, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) They're pretty broke... I know. It's still funny to me.
June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) We would if we had Strasburg, Harper and Zimmerman. I know Washington's attendance isn't great now. That's why I said potential. They were 23rd in the league last year with Stras for part of the year and Zimmerman for the full year. Pretty much every team has the potential to sell out every game under this useless of a standard.
June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Marlins? lol. Florida is a terrible sports state outside of college football. Washington is not. You're honestly going to tell me in Strasburg an Harper that they don't have the potential to sell-out every night? My point is that you can have great players and still have a bad team. The Cubs have had great players, sucked, and still sold out games. Having sell outs doesn't lead to you having a great team.
June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) I like Cron plenty. All he can do is hit though. Eh, if he can field, his impressive slowness will be less noticeable. Also, oh my god, someone gag Harold Reynolds. Intellectual Chernobyl right now.
June 7, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) My point is that you can have great players and still have a bad team. The Cubs have had great players, sucked, and still sold out games. Having sell outs doesn't lead to you having a great team. They have? They've had good players. Strasburg showed me enough last year to come to the conclusion that IF he's healthy he's extraterrestrial. Harper? C'mon now. I know it's easy to say no prospect is a lock. But he's as close to a lock as it gets. And the sell-out will enable them to supplement the superstar talent.
June 7, 201114 yr Author Now watch the Red Sox piss me off. I'm thinking Bell or maybe Goodwin. Matt Barnes if they go pitching. Edited June 7, 201114 yr by Jordan4life
June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) Now watch the Red Sox piss me off. I'm thinking Bell or maybe Goodwin. Bell or Swihart I'd guess. Maybe Hedges. Edit: Barnes. Forgot he was on the board. They will have the chance to take the big money elite talent later. Edited June 7, 201114 yr by DirtySox

Assuming Washington gets sellouts and has wheelbarrows full of cash money, they still have to make the correct free agent signings. That is not a given.

June 7, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) This is true. But everything else you mentioned is pretty much spot on. If Jim Bowden was still the GM I'd say Washington is f***ed either way.

I admit I go overboard with young prospects. My obsession started in '08 when I subscribed to BA online. And it's no coincidence that around that time or a year later I started killing the Sox for their ineptitude. But even if I wasn't that into them (prospects) I'd feel the same about Washington.

They've got legit pieces but that's not an easy division and to pretend they're suddenly going to double their attendance without a world series win is lunacy.
June 7, 201114 yr My favorite part of the MLB Draft is at least 10 of the first 20 guys will be viewed as absolute bums by 2015.
