June 11, 201114 yr Is anyone an expert on watches? I always said when I got a great job I'd buy a nice watch, and I recently got a promotion. What are the best brands? Is Movado all that? (money is no option so fire away with the best of the best)
June 12, 201114 yr Rolex is the obvious choice, but it could get you held up. Patek Philippe, A Lange, Armin Strom, Sohne, IWC, Zenith, Vacheron, Thomas Prescher, Greubel Forsey, Urwerk, MB&F , FP Journe, & Philippe Dufour. Me? A nice Citizen EcoDrive is a great watch to own, imo. Works great, easy to get repaired, and under $700.
June 12, 201114 yr QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) What's the point of an expensive watch? Pointless. What's the point of art?
June 12, 201114 yr Author Some people may find expensive watches to be pointless, and that's fine. However, my mom (who passed away last December) used to collect watches and clocks. I told her that one day when I have a good job, I'll buy one. Once she passed, I knew I really had to live up to this, and like I said, I got a promotion so I can afford a really nice watch.
June 12, 201114 yr I got a nice Movado and I like it. I work with alot of people that wear Rolex watches, but I feel like I'll get f***ing robbed with it on the train or bus.
June 13, 201114 yr I have a Nixon and a Rolex. Like others have said, I love my Rolex but don't wear it too much because not wanting to get jacked over it. Love the Nixon watch, constantly get compliments on it.
June 13, 201114 yr No Tag love here? I got mine as a gift. Probaby wouldn't have picked it myself, but I've come to really love it. They're a nice combination of sporty/dressy.
June 13, 201114 yr I like my Fossil that I got as a bowl gift. I'm not sure many people wear watches as timepieces anymore. Purely as part of how they look.
June 13, 201114 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) I'm not sure many people wear watches as timepieces anymore. Purely as part of how they look. Yeah, they are just jewelry nowadays. I hate wearing a watch myself. So annoying.
June 14, 201114 yr QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) Yeah, they are just jewelry nowadays. I hate wearing a watch myself. So annoying. I'm an attorney, so I actually need my watches when I have to be multiple places, so I even have a Snoopy watch I wear if I don't want to be too fancy!
June 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) How about a nice Chopard? http://famousdiamonds.tripod.com/chopard201watch.html It looks like a flower.
June 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) I'm an attorney, so I actually need my watches when I have to be multiple places, so I even have a Snoopy watch I wear if I don't want to be too fancy! What kind of watch can help you be multiple places at the same time? I need to get myself a snoopy watch!
June 15, 201114 yr QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) It looks like a flower. Hope you saw the pricetag on that flower!
June 19, 201114 yr QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) What kind of watch can help you be multiple places at the same time? I need to get myself a snoopy watch! haha, I wish it was that magical, but I just meant I actually need to be aware of the time and not constantly pulling out my phone to check.
June 20, 201114 yr I had a Snoopy Red Baron watch when I was a kid. the second hands were clouds that circled around Snoopy on his doghouse.
June 20, 201114 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:05 AM) I like this one. Whoa. That thing is intense!
June 21, 201114 yr Before I got married, I bought a Rolex...a stainless GMT Master II, which I've had since early 2006. I've worn it everyday since I bought it, no matter where I go or what I do. Before that, I had a TAG, which I also loved. I gave that to my friend when I bought my Rolex. Needless to say, now that I'm married and support my family on the single income (me/wife/newborn), I don't have the money to buy things like this anymore, but I'm glad I have it anyway. June 21, 201114 yr I've been told that watch use amongst the younger generation is declining rapidly on account of the fact that everyone's cell phone has an accurate clock on it.
