July 31, 201114 yr Figured this was worth a thread. With the trade deadline looming at 4 p.m. Sunday, the Sox are closing in on acquiring Rich Harden from the Oakland Athletics in a deal that would involve first baseman Lars Anderson, a major-league source has told the Herald. The deal has not yet been completed, but it may be finalized later tonight. Anderson was removed from tonight’s game at Triple-A Pawtucket. Harden, 29, is 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA in five starts for the Athletics since coming off the disabled list. In his last three starts, he has been sharp, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and striking out 22 in 18-1/3 innings against the Angels, Yankees and Rays.

July 31, 201114 yr Unless we're planning on bringing back Buerhle/Floyd/Danks for one last shot at it. Then we need to stick it out with AJ for at least 3-4 months into 2012.

Good Lord, that was a horrible list of catchers. There's maybe only 3-5 on that list I would peremptorily give consideration to.
