I've been a season ticket holder since 2004, and I don't plan to give that up because of this season. And since we've moved into a primo location for our section, and I don't want to lose it, I'll be renewing, which means paying the postseason invoice.

 

But it's criminal to have a team this bad force its fans to pay for playoff tickets (ha ha) or lose their prime locales for next season.

I can't believe teams pull that s***.

What if we were 10 below .500? Would they still pull this crap? They could at least wait until mid September. My god. This is not a playoff team. It's been an embarrassment.

I didn't know of this policy. My bad.

 

p.s. I can't believe you ticket holders aren't outraged.

They don't need to do that this early. This team is not a playoff team. They should at least wait until Sept 7. They don't NEED to do this this early. What a greedy POS move.

If they were swept by the Twins, then you wouldn't have seen them go out.

 

In that sense, the marketing department got lucky.

 

It's also very fortunate they will have this early barometer of what's likely to happen in the offseason.

 

If they only get a 25-35% return, they will have official confirmation they're in serious trouble for 2012 without a White Sox playoff team. Even with the playoffs, they could lose 5-10% with the economy going backwards again. To lose 15% of your retirement savings, POOF!, like that....season ticket renewals and cable/satellite tv will get crossed off the high priority list.

If you go to a bunch of games, it knocks your price per game way down, and guarantees you good seats for the hard-to-get-to games.

Because you are a fan, you like investing in your team and you want tickets to the best games and the playoffs. You also get many perks of being a STH like getting to go on the field, dugouts, clubhouses etc. You get access to game day tickets that are better than the public's. In 2005 I went to 57 games, saw some of the best playoff games of all time including the World Series and got to hold the trophy and wear a ring. Not sure I would have been able to do all of that if I wasnt a season ticket holder.

I believe invoices arent due for a little while. And its pretty typical of every pro sports team.

Bingo! I went to 12 games last year in various seats. This year, we got the Hit and Run Plan (weekdays), and we'll go to 27 games this year for the price of the 12 we went to last year, and I really like the seats we selected. Plus, we save $5 per game on parking for buying that in advance, we've gotten a bunch of free stuff and multiple free games thrown in too.

Having been a Sox fan all my life - it was EXTREMELY painful to not attend any of the world series games for only the second opportunity in my lifetme! I swore that if they went again I would be in attendance!

 

The chance to be inside the park for the next CWS world series is why I have been buying season tickets. That said if it does not look like that's going to happen again anytime soon we will have t o reconsider the wisdom of that decision!

I like the seats I have as well. I look at it as more of a payment plan than anything else. I was going to keep the season tickets anyway so this isn't extra money just an earlier down payment.

And as far as other organizations go, the Bears required season ticket holders to pay for their seats months and months ago, despite no evidence that there would even be a season this year. I'm sure it was going towards operating expenses while the players were locked out.

 

And Greg, you remind me of the guy in the Geico commercial that's been living under a rock.

 

It is much worse for the Bears. They said with the payment invoice that they had up to 60 days after each game was supposed to be played to refund our money for that game. The Bears are a much more stingy and poorly run organization than the Sox ever have been. But I continue to get season tickets there as well. I enjoy going to sporting events live.
