Southern League Hector Santiago, Birmingham 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 HR, 0 HBP, 5 BB, 12 K The first-half South Division champion Barons have struggled in the second half of the season and currently occupy the division basement despite four straight wins. The club's losing ways have little to do with starter Hector Santiago, who began the season with Class A Advanced Winston-Salem and also pitched 5 1/3 impressive frames in the Majors in early July. The 23-year-old southpaw yielded just six hits over 13 shutout innings in his two starts this week and owns a 2.49 ERA in nine Southern League starts since the All-Star break

At least he found his groove again.

Just a feeling, but wouldn't be surprised at all if Hector Santiago's having more of an impact on the White Sox 2-3 years down the line than Z. Stewart.

It will be interesting to see if he gets the recall to operate as the long man.

BHam still has a playoff run ahead of it right?

I don't care if Birmingham is in the playoffs or not. Chicago is more important than Birmingham.

We're 6 out. If we were closer maybe. All they have to do is call up Infante and Reed to give us a couple extra arms and we'll be fine

Hell, then use Sale more. We already have 3 lefties.

All you have to do is look at yesterday to understand we need a long reliever. If Peavy goes out and gets destroyed again in the second inning, we toast our pen going into the biggest series of the year.

Yep. Even management (and Buddy Bell) has said it's good to see young prospects get any kind of taste of a playoff atmosphere. Really any org. would tell you that.

Then call up Philip Humber, keep Stewart on the Roster, and bring in Reed and that one other guy from AAA people keep mentioning who's name I keep forgetting.

That will never happen. Most of the reasons have been mentioned, but the White Sox don't want to piss off an affiliate by taking away their hottest pitcher right before the playoffs just so he can pitch 5 innings a week.
