March 10, 201214 yr So now that these two pieces are in place, who has the better NFL career. This way we can go back in five years and see who really was right!
March 10, 201214 yr man, this is going to be a complicated discussion. Luck is a pure passer, RG3 can pass and run. Sort of similar to the Vick and Manning draft, Manning came out on top due to the Superbowls, but Vick has always had the hype and the glamor.

Not sure the other QB's in Vick's draft off the top of my head and I believe Eli was with Rivers (who the Chargers got in the trade, along with other picks), Cutler, etc.

March 10, 201214 yr damn I was up too early and out too late to be making any sort of sane thoughts. jesus Vick and Brees

March 10, 201214 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 10, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) iirc brees was the other qb in the vick draft eli was in there with rivers and big ben cutler was in a different draft with leinart and young Brees was a 2nd round pick in Vicks year (Chargers used the 1st pick in the 2nd round to get him). Took Tomilson with the pick they got from Atlanta. Yep, my bad on Cutler.

March 10, 201214 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 10, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) wow...put that in perspective with what the Rams just did.... #1 pick for #5 pick and a 3rd rounder vs. #2 pick for #6 pick, two more 1st rounders, 1 more second rounder That isn't right. They got more than a 1st pick and a 3rd rounder. I believe it was another 1st round pick as well. Or at the very least a future 2nd round pick. I'm 100% sure it was more than just a 1st and 3rd. Edit: Yep, 1st, 2nd (2012), and 3rd rounders, and Tim Dwight (Univ of Iowa) The Falcons got the opening pick in exchange for the fifth overall pick in the first round, their third-round pick, their second-round pick in 2002 and wide receiver Tim Dwight.

Brees and Tomlinson for Vick is pretty awesome. The Broncos got what with the picks for Cutler?

March 10, 201214 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 10, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) You also have to put it in perspective what the teams did with the picks. Brees and Tomlinson for Vick is pretty awesome. The Broncos got what with the picks for Cutler? Technically Brees was selected with the Chargers pick (not the Falcons). The Chargers actually got, Tomilson, Tay Cody, and Reche Caldwell. Technically they did well because Tomilson was a beast and they still got their QB in Brees with another pick, but the other guys the Chargers got didn't exactly light it up. A better haul was the Chargers trade of Eli Manning, where they got Rivers, Nate Kaeding, and Shawne Merriman (1st round the following year).

Brees was the first pick of the second round, that is still a pretty high value pick, no?

Chargers got another #1 and a 3rd. I'd argue that the difference in the Redskins deal is that now, these top picks aren't as expensive, so the price (in terms of picks) has increased if you want a guy like this because your franchise is less crippled if your top pick busts. In the past, if your top pick busted, you were screwed cause you had invested 50M bucks in them.

March 11, 201214 yr Andrew Luck will be on the Brady, Rodgers, Brees level in a few years. He'll be a hall of famer. I like RG trey but he's not on Luck's level imo. And yes Luck is a great pure passer but he's not a statur like Brady or Peyton, he's a great runner as well.
March 12, 201214 yr Luck busts Manning wins another Super Bowl with the Not-Colts RGIII has a terrific career. You heard it here, folks. Too good of a story to pass up.
