I know it's obvious. I'm just saying, this thread is pretty much Bulls, Bulls, Bulls, cry about the refs EVERY single night and I guess hating on the Heat. That's why Felix bolted. Which is a shame. But he's just a boring T-wolves fan. He doesn't fit in around here.

That's what I've wondered, at least with TalkBulls. TalkBears seems to do fine on it's own, but TalkBulls just dies.

You need to link any discussion threads on here to forward you over to that website. I think that would help big time.

You'd have to get everyone to go over there all at once, otherwise it won't work. Plus you'd have to convince the people over there to recruit their bulls fan friends to start to build the kind of base that Soxtalk has. It can be done, but it has to be a group effort. The important things are recruiting and making sure there are lots of new topics and discussions to convince people it is worth making the switch for.

I honestly don't know if it is possible to make the membership transfer over to another domain, and still be cost effective (aka basically free).

 

When we established the other boards the idea was to use Soxtalk to seed the other sports boards, and then have people bring their friends who weren't Sox fans, but fans of the other teams (bulls/bears/hawks/cubs) to those boards. The timing ended up being awful as it was when all of us were getting out of college, getting promotions, getting married, having kids etc, so not nearly enough time and effort got put into it.

 

I think a place like the Bulls site would work if we could establish a core of 20-25 people to all start posting there at once, and at the same recruit the heck out of their friends and family. It just takes a lot of time to make sure lots of new posts are going up, because that is how you establish early on that there is enough to talk about to keep people coming back.

 

If we could get enough people interested, we could enough have something like a re-launch date to push and try to get people to start coming back and in to the site.

Yeah, the way I see it you'd have to can that website. Folks would have to re-register (not a problem since almost every frequent poster over there was a Soxtalker) at SoxTalk. I'm not sure if IP Board would allow you to make different subforums have different layouts -- if so, you could give the Bulls, Bears forums the feel of its own site. You'd still be within Soxtalk though, making the probability higher that Soxtalk users post in those forums like they do in this forum/thread. No one likes registering for separate things, as easy as it is.

 

For instance, if there were Bulls game threads in this forum, they would have been active during the playofffs because the NBA thread was. Imagine if users actually knew what the hell happened in these threads, they might participate.

 

With this, you'd effectively have a Chicago sports forum with little to no more maintenance than Soxtalk alone has.

Those are valuable as well. Discussion goes a long way towards recruiting. People don't come back to sites with no new conversation.

The thing that bohters me is that you can't have 3 conversations going on at the same time in the NBA thread, everything winds up pushed back 2 pages any time there's something people want to talk about.

I would, however, be happy to promote talkbulls.

The NBA thread was an ugly thing for most of this year. Giving the partisans a more Bulls oriented place to be could be a good thing for the non-Bulls fans and Bulls fans alike.

If all people did was drop by the game threads rather than commenting on every Bulls game here, it'd get the board going/back to life a lot more and make this thread easier to follow.
