September 12, 201213 yr Sophomore in High School on my way to a second period English class. A buddy passed by and asked if I heard about a plane crashing into WTC. I hadn't, and I assumed it was either a small personal craft or a helicopter. Shortly afterwards it became apparent that it wasn't quite that. Our school isn't too far from Fermilab, so as one would expect in the midst of what was happening- someone pointed that out and like a bad game of telephone, it snowballed into Fermi is a target of one of the planes that were still unaccounted for at that time.
September 12, 201213 yr Freshmen in highschool, I definitely didn't understand how big it was until probably a day later when a classmate said she had an uncle in one of the buildings.
