Two interesting notes in the new USA Today Baseball Weekly.

1.) Bob Nightengale, whom I believe talks to KW frequently, sez Manuel is a goner if he doesn't get this team into the post-season. In fact, he sez he might be gone if the Sox don't reach at least the World Series.

He sez Grady Little of Boston and Jim Tracy of LA are also gone if they don't make the post-season.

2.) Royals about to get a taste of the rotten scheduling the Sox got last week. BB Weekly sez the Royals have to play in Texas Sept. 3, fly home for a day to play Arizona in a makeup game and then leave after the game for Anaheim.

Sounds good. Be better if Schilling or Webb or Unit pitches in KC

prediction: KC falls into a massive losing streak and falls out of contention by the first week of september.......oh yeah, i said it. lol

another prediction..........manuel isnt going anywhere till AFTER the season ends... if then........ ;) :lolhitting

I have said all along that the Twins are the team to beat. They have an easy road the rest of the way.

This will be Manuel's last year unless the Sox go deep into the playoffs...book it.

And no, he won't get fired during the season.

As far as the Royals go, I hope they lose, but more importantly I want the Sox winning :headbang

I can live with WIN OR ELSE for manuel.

If he can't squeeze 88-plus wins outta this team, he doesn't deserve another year

If we do can him, we better make the right hire.

There are a lot of bad managers out there who people think are good managers.

Art Howe.

Jerry Manuel will be fired the day after the World Series ends, unless the Sox are holding the trophy.

dont be so fast to book that jas.... reguardless of the outcome for the remainder of the season he still has one more year on his contract with the sox and is still one of jr's good ol boys......... ;)

I can't believe he'll be around next year if the World Series doesn't open on the south side of Chicago this year.

I'd be for brining back JM if we atleast get to the lcs. If we got that far and say lost to the Yanks I don't think u can automatically say he's fired. Will see though. This is gonna be a grueling final 5 weeks of the season...

Yep! It sure is. Isn't this fun? I love being in the race, for a change. :D  :D
