Tigers Targeting Lincecum to Close?

Featured Replies

Heard the rumors today that the Tigers are looking towards Lincecum for bullpen help & possibly to be their closer?

That would certainly be interesting...I would never trust him to close down the strtech, but hey the Tigers are desperate.

Wow. That is just crazy. The price of relief help must be insane if they are that far down their list of relievers.

Doesn't help that he just threw a no hitter too. His price is just as high I bet.

Sounds like someone is having a major pipe dream

And his arm fatigue is probably high too after 148 pitches. Talk about selling high!

This is the dumbest stuff I've ever heard. Makes zero logical sense. I mean, I'm sure he would potentially be a good closer, but really, this is going pretty far outside the box and is about as unlikely a rumor as I've heard all year (and now watch the deal get announced in a couple days).

I wonder what an NL ERA of 5+ translates in the AL.

He was successful out of the pen last season and he is a free agent at the end of the season, so he they wont be blocking Rondon long term. His contract also makes it likely that the Tigers would not have to give up as much to acquire him.
