July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:31 AM) Sounds like Peavy was pulled from his start. Sarcasm or for real and where did you hear that?
July 30, 201312 yr Sarcasm or for real and where did you hear that? There is a story in the Tribune about Rienzo being called up, but it says that he's starting tonight even if Peavy isn't traded, so it doesn't really provide any insight as to how close a trade might be.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) Sarcasm or for real and where did you hear that? It's all over Twitter and a few news sites that I'd link if it wasn't mobile. Just to be clear doesn't mean he was traded.

That's odd in my opinion. That means to me that Peavy is definitely getting traded. I'd rather have Peavy start.
July 30, 201312 yr That's odd in my opinion. That means to me that Peavy is definitely getting traded. I'd rather have Peavy start. If Peavy starts tonight for the Sox and then is traded tomorrow, he can't start for his new team until Sunday. If the Sox hold Peavy out tonight and then he's traded tomorrow, he can start for his new team Thursday, which might end up giving him one extra start for the new team down the line.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (WKamm @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 AM) If Keppinger, Dunn, Ramirez, and Flowers are still here after the deadline, it will be a failure on the Sox part. It is gonna be a long day for you.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (WKamm @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 AM) If Keppinger, Dunn, Ramirez, and Flowers are still here after the deadline, it will be a failure on the Sox part. They should be able to move Ramirez, but are probably hesitant and want too much (as of now) as we have zero replacement. Keppinger and Flowers - no. They're awful. No contender wants them. Slugginng DHs are out of favor unless you hit like David Ortiz. WE could have moved him, but the Sox don't like picking up 75% of salary.

Also there's the chance of injury. Say Peavy gets pulled in the 4th for something as minor as a cramp. In that scenario Hahn just lost a whole lot of leverage. It's really the smart thing to do to not have him start if there's even a chance you might trade him.

I believe the waiver wire might bring better results for the sox. We obtained Rios to block the tigers nut I don't think we have anything that other teams are valuing our players enough to make a deal happen . Edited July 30, 201312 yr by sammy esposito
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:00 PM) I believe the waiver wire might bring better results for the sox. We obtained Rios to block the tigers nut I don't think we have anything that other teams are coveting enough to make a deal happen . I have yet to see anything beyond speculation that this is actually true.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) I believe the waiver wire might bring better results for the sox. We obtained Rios to block the tigers nut I don't think we have anything that other teams are valuing our players enough to make a deal happen . If that's true then the Tigers were very very smart. Addition by subtraction scaring us into taking Alex Rios.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) If that's true then the Tigers were very very smart. Addition by subtraction scaring us into taking Alex Rios. Did you know? Alex Rios is the person who puts cats into trees and he is the reason for poor weather on long road trips.
July 30, 201312 yr Jeff Wilson @JeffWilson_FWST 7m Lance Berkman jogged a short while ago. His assessment: "Not good, to be honest." Would like to see Texas offer something for Dunn.
