Did we already abandon that experiment? It would be nice if he can stick there. He seems to have the size and athleticism. Not sure why we aren't trying it out for now. And get Dayan some reps in right too.

You might be right. I don't know who is the best CF,,,,,,, De Aza or Garcia. Unless there is an off season trade or FA signing in the outfield, there is a good chance that the starting outfield next year will be De Aza, Tank, and Garcia.

I'm wondering if they just don't want to make that change mid-season and might give it a shot in the spring

Or if they're showcasing De Aza in CF for the rest of the year with the thought process he'll be traded this offseason?

Yeah, I don't think things like this actually happen.

I think the Sox are probably going to hold onto De Aza for at least another year, but they're not keeping him in CF just to "Showcase him". At the very least if they were doing that, they wouldn't keep moving him to LF every time Danks comes into the game.

I'm not saying I think that's what is happening, but I do think it's weird they moved Garcia from CF to RF so early after nothing bad happened with him out there.

I think they just decided that they were going to get him big league at-bats and they weren't going to move either De Aza or Viciedo to RF with no warning mid-season. Viciedo's the right one to move but how long has it been since he's played RF?

I don't think Garcia as an everyday CF was a serious consideration. I think it was just more of a spot to put him to give him AB's if they could not unload Rios, and as a potential backup option there in the future. I think the plan is to get a true center fielder out there who provides great defense. Would not be surprised at all to see a trade for Peter Bourjos in the offseason.

Exactly. CF is a big responsibility. I think they know his D in right is just about perfect for him. Keep him there and he has less to worry about and can concentrate on his hitting.
