November 27, 201312 yr The Giants outrighted him to the minors and he elected free agency. He's been inconsistent in his career, but he's still got pretty good stuff and could be a nice addition to the Sox. Not only is he still relatively young (29 next year), but he fills a need on the Sox and is the type of guy who can be dealt at the deadline for a decent prospect as well if the Sox so choose. Personally, I'd try and sign him to something like a 2 year, $6 mill deal with a team option - $2.25 mill this year, $3.25 mill next year with a $500k buyout or an option for $4.5 million.
November 27, 201312 yr "That's exactly what our roster is missing, left handed pitching!" Seriously, not a bad idea with Coops history. Maybe a late offseason signing if he lasts a while.
November 27, 201312 yr Ha, remember him doing well vs us on the Twins, although maybe the numbers say differently. I wouldn't mind him as a second option.
November 27, 201312 yr I know Crain's a righty, but I'd love to have him back. Reed, Crain, and Lindstrom plus whichever other Webtricka guy comes up (am I forgetting someone?) and we would be set for RHPs.

I'm fine with Reed, Jones, Lindstrom, Webb, and Petricka from the right side. I primarily suggested Mijares because the Sox lefties right now are, like, Veal and Leesman which, needless to say, leaves much to be desired.

November 27, 201312 yr Wouldn't hurt to provide some competition for Veal and Leesman. As long as the asking price isn't ridiculous, I say sign him up.
