December 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) PK's resigning has nothing to do with his platoon splits. The last thing our bench needed was a right handed bat I got the "Dunn's platoon splits" line repeatedly when Konerko was re-upped as a reason why it made sense so I call back to that.
December 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) So was last year a random anomaly or a sign he's trending down and getting even more extreme as he ages? Trending down vs LHP and trending up vs RHP? That would be quite the anomaly in itself.
December 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) There's a .400 point OPS between his LH and RH splits. We're keeping Konerko as a part time DH who may randomly steal playing time from our most important and valuable prospect for less extreme splits than that. There's a difference when you're thinking about platooning a leadoff hitter, especially when he gets on base 35% of the time against lefties. His career numbers vs. lefties are also much better than what they were last year at .241/.340/.341, good enough for a .310 wOBA. It's not worth it to platoon him and he isn't "barely a platoon outfielder". Edited December 31, 201312 yr by chw42

January 1, 201412 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) I don't think that's why Hahn did it I don't either and that's why every time it screws up our roster in calling it out.
