September call ups

Featured Replies

:fthecubs who r the sox gonna bring up?

Well last night the Sox brought up Jamie Burke. They also brought up Josh Stewart and placed him on the DL, I believe this is sort of a gimmick to be able to bring in another player for the playoff roster because Stewart isn't likely to pitch again all year.

And if you didn't know the Sox optioned Cotts back to Birmingham for the playoffs.

In September arent you supposed to bring the total number of players on the roster over 25? Why havent the Sox "expanded" their roster.

Jerry said theyd be adding a catcher and a pitcher. THats it. He said theyre having hard enough time getting Rowand and some of the other batters their at bats. As far as why we dont add more pitching? Im lost.

They should bring up guys like Adkins and Ginter just to have arms in the pen for mopup work. What can it hurt? Just so we dont have to use our good guys arms in blow outs.

Good point. It couldn't hurt to have those two pitching while the sox have a big lead instead of usuing a guy like Marte for longer than they should.

I don't want to bring up Adkins again. He struggled so give him some more time next year at Charlotte.

I would have brought up Ginter and Sanders, both very competent pitchers who haven't quite found their niche at the major league level.

What about Rauch?

he had a solid year and might have to be in the rotation next year, depending upon what happens to Bartolo and the fifth starter spot.

They aren't planning on bringing much anyone up. Typically teams in the hunt don't use many callups, because they fear it could hurt their chemistry.

I think the Sox will call up a few pitchers, and they will use a couple of them as a 5th starter so the Sox can use Buehrle, Colon, Loaiza and Garland in a 4 game set against the Twins with the 5th guy pitching the final game against the Indians.

Just a guess.

That's what I'd like them to do. It seems to be the smartest move. But with some of the moves that have been made this year, YOU NEVER NKOW.

Let's not give JM any more options in his Magic 8 Ball.
