August 13, 201411 yr QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) Freudenberg has given up two runs but has struck out six over three innings. Good peripherals for today, anyway.
August 13, 201411 yr Rondon made an error to put Rodon in trouble. Jake Peter made a run saving play. Pitched out of it.
August 13, 201411 yr 21 pitches. 6 consecutive innings without a run surrendered. Think he got strikeouts on the change and the best hitter on their team with bases loaded on the bread-and-butter slider. Winston-Salem needs to get going. 7 consecutive losses, mirroring the White Sox the last couple of weeks. Still tied for first place in their division with about 20 games remaining in the season for the 2nd half playoff spot. Rondon, like Alexei, has a tendency to make mistakes on routine plays, then turn around and make the spectacular one. Edited August 13, 201411 yr by caulfield12
August 13, 201411 yr Michalczewski RBI single. Pronounced Mee-ow-ches-ski. I think that's what he's saying.
August 13, 201411 yr Trey's father is Polish (if that wasn't clear enough from his name) Gets his first Carolina League hit and first RBI. Rodon top of the 2nd Strikeout, flyout to whoever the hyper guy who's acting like Hunter Pence for the Dash in RCF....infield ground-out. Stress-free inning. Of course, that was the 7th-9th place hitters, so not surprising. Edited August 13, 201411 yr by caulfield12
August 13, 201411 yr JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 · 4m We're getting the top of the draft nasty Carlos Rodon tonight. 93-96 with a wicked slider.

August 13, 201411 yr Hawkins absolutely ripped a rocket on one hop the outfield. Hardest hit ball of the month for Courtney. Needs to turn things around these final three weeks of the W-S playoff drive. Backdoor slider gets another K...4 outs in the first 7 via the strikeout. Called strike 3, back to back strikeouts looking. 5 K's out of 8 outs. Polish Prince 5-3 to Keon Barnam, Rodon cruising now. 7 consecutive batters retired. Edited August 14, 201411 yr by caulfield12
August 14, 201411 yr Back-to-back looking strikeouts for Rodon on the slider in the 2nd, followed by a groundout on an 0-2 count. 3.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 5K
August 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Just move Rodon to Charlotte after tonight. He's up in three weeks anyway. Maybe. But would prefer to see him stick with the Dash and get that talented team into the playoffs...if he does gets promoted, I would guess he will go Birmingham first, fwiw.

August 14, 201411 yr JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 · 47s And now we see 97 from Rodon. And then an 88 mph slider for another taken strike three. Fun to watch. JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 · 15s Rodon starts out third consistently at 95-96, gets k to start the inning with a freeze ya 87 slider.
August 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) Maybe. But would prefer to see him stick with the Dash and get that talented team into the playoffs...if he does gets promoted, I would guess he will go Birmingham first, fwiw. Yeah, maybe. Just going by Sale's minor league year. He skipped over Birmingham.
August 14, 201411 yr Passed ball allows a run, then gets 2 strikeouts on 6 pitches, most of them swinging, before leaving the game with a man on third.
August 14, 201411 yr 61 pitches and out 60 must have been the pitch count Walk and then a double to the RF wall, but recorded back-to-back K's. Runner scored on an Omar Narvaez passed ball. Terence Marin coming in, 2 outs, Rodon's baserunner on 3rd. Finishes with 7 k's and a walk, which was on a 3-2 count and barely missed the zone. Edited August 14, 201411 yr by caulfield12
August 14, 201411 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 · 47s And now we see 97 from Rodon. And then an 88 mph slider for another taken strike three. Fun to watch. JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 · 15s Rodon starts out third consistently at 95-96, gets k to start the inning with a freeze ya 87 slider. Makes me think back to 2005 when Jenks was throwing that slider at 89-91...
