I am extremely happy on many fronts, which i will address.

First, this should show any Sox brass who has doubt of the Sox fans, the Fans

have been craving a winner, they should rethink their approach this offseason.

The Sox should swallow the bullet and spend a little more, they will get that back

in many different ways.

Second, they should rethink the possibility of getting Jeff S from Oak. The main

reason would be cost. the cost of a new contract, guess estimate (5 yr-20mil)

the prospects needed to make this happen. Alexei plus the sox A+ prospects.

The price is too steep. go and sign a FA or look at another team.

Loosing the main A+ prospects is costly. Now if they expanded their other players

involve, maybe. I just don't like it.

There are more, but without knowing the full extent of the talk, and package, it is hard

to address. I say lets not fixated on the idea of a trade and Jeff S.

now the challenge, i want some real feedback. some real hardcore suggestion. even if

to put my head up my arse. I want to really think about it.

I'm also very happy that we are trying to build a very strong rotation. Samardzija at the top of our rotation would arguably give us the best rotation in the AL central. Now, the return cost is the immediate question. Are we at the point in the organization to start dealing away top prospects? To answer that question, I would say no. This then brings me to tradable veterans. I would consider trading Alexei for him under a few conditions:

1) Billy Beane gives the Sox and Samardzija a 24 hour window for a contract extension. I would love to see a 4 year extension.

2) The Sox not only acquire Shark which would be a risky 1 year rental, but they also acquire a top prospect in return for Alexei. Let's face it, Beane would later flip Alexei for top prospects after the 2015 season.

Fact of the matter is this... Sale, Samardzija, Quintana would be a Sick trio!!!

I love your fact of the matter. 2 big spots to fill and I think we'll be surprised with how well try are filled out.

In Tampa, under the new GM, with his revamping the team, I if

Matt Joyce will be a good pickup. last yr he had a down yr. he

bats Lh, plays the outfield and is low cost. yeah he has 2 yrs

on his contract.

Matt Joyce is 3rd year arbitration-eligible and can be a free agent after 2015.

How many games would that trio win in 2015 with the Sox as now constructed? Assume no major injuries to them, and they collectively get 90-100 starts.

Well, assuming no other moves? Well, the bullpen really hasnt been addressed yet outside of Duke, so im not going to give these guys a bunch of wins. If the Sox swing a Shark trade, you have to think Bullpen is next on the agenda to give these guys some protection after the 7th inning

wasn't it implied that Bassitt, Beck and again, E.Johnson will be given a chance to earn

their position come spring. either way, i am waiting for tues night for the final waiver

list.

Buddy Carlyle, Dana Eveland are 2 of 4 rp i am looking at.

with or without Shark, the sox are in a better situation than last yr.

i am also counting on some of the young prospect to develop and assume

roles on the team.
