My fault, it's Thursday. Can a mod change the title please? Also, Rodon going on Friday in Houston.

Something to look forward to

@CSNHayes

Chris Beck has been optioned back to Triple-A Charlotte.

His start was less than what we expected or for that matter he did. Could have been worse and maybe next time he will be rid of the butterflies

I have zero clue how anyone would look at Chris Beck's first start and say it was "less than what we expected".

If someone said before his start he would give you 6 innings and the Sox would be down 2 when he left, I would have taken it.

His overall numbers were pretty brutal, but he did keep the team in the game, and it was his debut, and he's not exactly a top 50 prospect. There is something to build on.

Kept velocity the whole time, some pitches got away with him but overall had good movement, his offspeed stuff was actually better than I expected (when I saw him a year ago he literally threw nothing offspeed until the 6th inning).

He's not going to be a #1 starter but there's stuff there to work with.

i really wanted to see how Beck reacted to everything. the game on the majors is sooo much different. i think he did ok.

i also think the first game in the majors played into it with pump up hype in his pitching. i also think he will get use to it, with more rep on the majors in the future.

lastly, he now can go the minors and know he has the stuff to make it, all he needs to due is get more developmental reps.

but as i also said, what in hades do i know???? :lol:
