June 2, 20169 yr The official Prospects of the Month for May are now up. The pitcher was a clear choice, and frankly, the pitching in the system has been pretty disappointing this year as a group (with a few exceptions). On the hitting side though, there were three guys who could have won it, all of whom are in the Charlotte lineup now. That team has some serious offense now.
June 2, 20169 yr QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) It's good to see how tough it was weighing over the bats and their huge months but the pitchers have had a terrible year org wide. Gotta get some rebound there. when will Davidson get to try his luck at the show again ,http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150429&content_id=121275356&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
June 2, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Is Hayes a contender for a Sox bench spot? He should be. He's a lefty bat, which the team needs. He plays 1B above average, and it might be good to get Abreu to DH some days. The DH slot is currently manned by a guy who doesn't hit righties well (Garcia). He draws a ton of walks, gets on base (always a need). And he gives you a PH option, especially in interleague games, that likely does much better than Sands.

June 2, 20169 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Is Hayes a contender for a Sox bench spot? Makes more sense than Sands with Shuck also on the roster, IMO. Need Austin to get healthy, though.
June 2, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Can Hayes play any position besides 1B? He's only been a 1B and DH in his pro career, so no, I don't think so. That's the big weakness there. But then let's be honest, how often has Sands played OF this year? And with 3 starting OF's plus both Shuck and Garcia, that's 5 outfielders. Sands really is only a 1B on this team anyway.
June 2, 20169 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Sands has played 6 innings in the OF. 6 innings too many

These reasons pretty much point to the fact that Hayes should be here instead of Sands right now. It just makes sense.
