  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) Sure they can. It allows them to b**** and moan ... as usual.
  2. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) I don't think KW should have given up on 2007. KW has not given up on 2007. I promise you that.
  3. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) You actually think this was a good trade??? He traded a quality SP for two decent prospects. Gio had a poor year in his first year in AA in 2006. He's nowhere near major league ready (think 2 or 3 years for his debut and then probably a year or two before he hits his stride, if ever). Floyd was a top prospect 3 YEARS AGO. And his value has dropped steadily since then. These guys aren't even blue chip prospects. Like all prospects, they are just maybes and not even great maybes at that. This would be a decent trade for a rebuilding team who had essentially given up on 2007 already. I don't think KW should have given up on 2007. I agree with Rock. This was a solid move. As usual here, hardly anyone is paying attention to the $10 million this trade freed up for other moves. Like when we traded CLee for Podsednik and then used the extra money gained from the trade to sign AJ, The Duke, and Iguchi. You can't ignore the money folks.
  4. Oh my God! I must be a complete freaking moron because ya'll seem to have had labotomies since we won won the World Series.
  5. I'm now going to kill myself.... Reading this s*** makes me...
  6. Pods needs to step it up defensively. He's having a bad year there. Everything else in this thread is idiocy. Acquiring Pods changed the dynamic of this team tremendously for the better. You can't find the impact by looking at Pods stats. You find the impact in watching the impact he has on pitchers once he gets on base. He changes how pitchers approach everyone who bats when he is on base. Threads like this are why I rarely comment on this site anymore. We have the best damn baseball team in over the last two years thanks in major part to the acquisition of Pods. Is that really that hard for ya'll to understand? Or is it that some of you are too young to remember 2004? I'm frankly astounded. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) One of you stat guys want to pull up our record with Pods starting and with out Pods the last two years. Just out of curiousity. Rowand44 gets it. Anyone who watched the White Sox in August/September last year does not need to see this stat to know the impact Pods had on our team last year.
  7. Russell's having an excellent season for Winston. After 15 starts, he is 6-2 with a 2.24 ERA. He's given up only 69 hits in 84 1/3 innings pitched.
  8. "a finess pitcher who rarely touches 90 but also rarely allows a hit"
  9. He's also another asset for trade possibilities as he's older and should be AA fairly quickly.
  10. They are no going to take a risky player. That's no their MO. They are going to build assets. KW has shown he'll draft for a need if he thinks he has one, AKA Josh Fields. Otherwise, its all about building assets. You can't hardly argue with KW's success here he's been able to turn his draft assets into players for our major league roster... Jim Thome being a prime example.
  11. Another Broadway is hardly a bad thing. http://www.texassports.com/index.php?s=&ur...17&member_id=19 Kyle McCulloch #23 Height: 6-3 Weight: 185 Class: Jr.-2L Hometown: Houston, TX (Bellaire) Emerged as Texas’ No. 1 starter and one of the top starting pitchers in the country during the 2005 season ... displays maturity and poise beyond his years … combines both power and finesse in his game … attacks the strike zone and mixes up an arsenal of pitches that have good movement and explode on hitters … a student of the game … will be expected to fill his role at the top of the starting rotation in 2006.
  12. Cubs pick -- "probably ranks as the biggest surprise."
  13. Are there people out there who actually think we might trade Pods? Get your heads out of your asses!!! Pods is the straw that stirs the drink. There is no way Ozzie and KW would risk this team becoming the same slow-footed homerun plodding team we were in 2001-2004.
  14. Ok, let's put this one to rest. BA is staying put for awhile. Mackoviak will get more playing time than planned on but BA is staying put. There are no immediate minor league answers. Fields will be lucky to make the roster in 2007 let alone this season. Sweeney too. We have the second best record in baseball. Everyone breathe.
  15. He throws in the low 90s. I called him a poor man's BMac. No, he doesn't have BMac's K numbers. But, I still think this kid has a chance. He has the tools. He is built alot like BMac which is the main reason for the comparison.
  16. Adam Russell, a poor man's Brandon McCarthey, is off to another fairly good season for the Winston-Salem team. In 9 starts, he's 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA. His numbers don't compare to what McCarthey did at this level very well but he has been consistently solid for three years. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil..._pbp&pid=452240 In 2005, Adam went 9-7 with a 3.78 ERA at Kannapolis.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Another difference between Frank and Thome was that Frank was booed when he played here. I'll be there tomorrow and will clap respectfully, like a golf tournament clap, if they have a ceremony and before his first at bat. After that I will be silent. Some of his parting comments touched a nerve with me, and frankly at this point I see him as a selfish egotistical washed up jerk. Rather ironic post from someone going by the moniker "Dick Allen."
  18. I don't post much here anymore but I am convinced that Frank will be given the long standing ovation he deserves. The folks here saying otherwise are a very small minority of Sox fans. This organization and our fans have class and it will be on display tomorrow night when the greatest player in the history of the organization returns home.
  19. They must really be desperate for something to talk about in Chicago because this is a nothing story. Would Mike North be this outraged if the President was Bill Clinton? My guess is no. I heard someone on The Score this morning say this was the biggest reward a team gets as part of a championship. Uh --- no. The parade in the home town and the trophy at the park for eternity are the biggest rewards. Enjoy your family Ozzie.
  20. Call me crazy but I actually had a great time at this year's Fest. I've been to the last three, travelling in from Boulder, Colorado, and I've enjoyed all three. Because we were celebrating this year, I thought this was the best. The price of success is crowds. I thought that the White Sox organization did their best to accomodate the increased crowd. Now, I have not stood in one autograph line in three years. I have no interest in collecting signatures. I attend almost all of the seminars and training academy discussions that interest me. I love Greg Walker's hitting intruction. I also love to see Ozzie and Kenny perform. There were a couple seminars that were hard to get into but for the most part if you really wanted to be in one you could do so. I did not get to sleep before 3am on either night as I was hanging out at the Big Bar with friends. The place was just nuts with the new dance club there.
  21. Good news. I'm happy for the Big Hurt as he deserves another shot. I understood why we let him go but he certainly showed last year that he has some pop left in his bat if he can get healthy. And, I will always stand and applaud the Big Hurt. He still is the greatest White Sox player of all time.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 06:54 AM) basically we try and avoid "talking s***" here. And, if we are "talking s***" it's generally when things are not going real well for our World Champions.
  23. I'm flying in from Colorado just for the festivities. I can't wait. This will be my third year in a row flying in for the event. Question: How early will people be lining up for the infamous KW, Ozzie session?
