  1. I thought this was the off topic board? Now we are getting into a discussion about Dan Wright.
  2. I never said he was weak. I think he is an above average pitcher as I said before. I just don't think he is worth giving up good prospects or a solid major leaguer. If we can get him at the same price we got Alomar, then go for it. That doesn't sound like it will happen though.
  3. This was true until recently. The Royals started 16-3, then 12-26, recently they were 14-5 before losing 4 of their last 6. They were just recently hot and that was how they were able to get back in first. Obviously they are out of that streak with the recent 2-4 record, but if they stay hot/cold the rest of the way and get hot at the end they could still be there. Keep that in mind because I don't think they will swoon until at least late August. The trade was good as a morale boost and an upgrade to the bullpen. It settles rumors of the Royals being sellers in the deadline and it tells the players that they are fighting.
  4. These are really interesting to read because I swear every year they are wrong. Even going into the last month they can't pick all the playoff teams. With that in mind I don't really care what these say as long as we keep winning.
  5. I agree with that. Horace Grant, though, went out and made it personal to beat us in the 95 playoffs. Pippen never said he hated the team as a whole. Nobody liked Krause, so what's wrong with being honest? Pippen will be a vet and will help out with the d that needs so much work with the Bulls. The question is whether Scottie wants to be on a mediocre team his last year or 2. I just don't want to see Pippen with the Lakers. That would crush me because I hate the Lakers with a passion.

    Sweet Vancouver

If the Olympics had better coverage on tv, then I'd probably pay more attention. Hockey is decent, sometimes I watch. Olympic hockey, though, is awesome. On a different note, the biggest thing to come out of Canada IMO is Kristin Kreuk. There's nothing wrong with that though.
  7. Heh, good to see I'm remembered. I'm the same danman31 from WSI. I'm pretty sure you were new there right before I left. I'm currently #10 on the WSI threads started list.

    Sweet Vancouver

Yeah, that's pretty cool. Is it just me or are the Olympics not such a big deal anymore? It's been every 4 years for the longest time and now with the summer and winter staggered it's basically every 2 years. The Olympics don't have enough interesting sports to me and the awful tv coverage doesn't help.
  9. You can not be serious. You want to get rid of Paul? I admit he is doing horrible this season, but you don't just give up on a guy that put up his numbers over the past few years. I'm not just saying this because he hit a HR last night either. Ponson is not worth a guy of Konerko's stature. I don't understand why we need another pitcher so badly that we are willing to give up good prospects or solid major leaguers for one. Ponson is an above average pitcher, but I don't think we need to sell the farm for a #4 starter. Lawrence would be a waste of prospects for. 4.67 ERA and you guys want him? Why bother? That's hardly an upgrade and he would be going to the AL so expect that to go up a bit. We don't need another Danny Wright. KW should simply go after a middle reliever for a low price and then he is done.
  10. It was on SC. Multiple guys going at it. That's as good as it gets! lol
  11. Yeah, WSI went to the s***ter when daver became an admin. He abused the power. Daver sure knew his baseball though. I kinda miss WSI, then I realize that they are to uptight and ruin it. Sadly I'm still a top 10 thread starter over there and I haven't posted there in a long time.
  12. 7th in the AL in HRs, t-39th in average, t-32nd in RBIs, 2nd in walks, 5th in slugging %, 4th in OB%. Those stats should speak for themselves. Solid in all categories and awesome in some.
  13. That was stupid on his part to get ejected on an obvious call. I don't believe in that sticking up for his catcher s***. If it was an obvious call, Sandy is the kind of guy to realize that later. Either way JM didn't need to get ejected, he could have just talked to the ump and gotten his point across. I was wondering if JM did it because of Alomar and Everett. It's a possibility.

    Polls

I like polls. I think they show the basic fan opinion. More competitive polls are more interesting because they usually spark fights. I use polls whenever I have a question about how the fans feel about something.
  15. Yep, it's me. I haven't been on the boards in a while. Nothing like a couple trades to get me to come back. I know that sounds weird, but I'm NOT a fair weather fan. I've been a Sox fan for years. I repeat: I'm NOT a fair weather fan.
  16. The team is playing well. The team is playing together. With a month until the deadline should KW have gone out and made the trades when he did or should he have waited for the team to lose a series and use the trades as a boost? Of course there is the possibility that he had to make the deals now or risk being outbid for those players. My dad had the theory that he wanted the team to come together before playing all those west division teams in August making for a tough schedule.
  17. This lineup is arguably the best on paper. If guys like Valentin, Thomas, and Maggs hit like they did in 2000 along with Konerko (which isn't going to happen) and the newly acquired Alomar and Everett playing their best it probably is the best lineup in baseball. That's 5 all stars and another good hitter there. Unfortunately Konerko most likely won't get out of his slump anytime soon and I have a hard time believing all 5 of those guys can get hot at the same time. But if they do.....(starts drooling and fantasizing about a WS title)
  18. The thought of Everett as a 2 did cross my mind, but I don't know if that will happen. There are a lot of possibilities with this new bunch of hitters.
  19. Wow, we are talking about being in first place and the team is still under .500. The beauty of being in the AL Central!
  20. Totally agreed. The Sox need a leadoff guy. My reaction to the Alomar trade was, "Wow, a good leadoff type hitter." As for the Everett deal, he isn't a leadoff type guy which means Valentin might be hitting 2 which worries me the way he has been hitting this year. It worked in 2000 though, so I guess it could work again.
  21. Willie Harris did play 2nd base today. Is it such a stretch that he could play 2B and leave CF to Rowand and/or Borchard in the future?
  22. Colon against his former team, wow. That could be interesting. I'm sure he'll be pumped up, but I just hope they don't know how to hit him.
  23. Wow, that's impressive. I was surprised to see that he's doing this well.
  24. How did we get Stewart? Did he come up from our minors or did we trade for him?
  25. Looks good. It's short enough that I'll read it, and it has enough detail. Is there a chance that we will see Borchard called up before September this season?
