  1. The forecast is bad enough, but I am certain the conflict with Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals and its potential effect on the gate helped make this an even easier decision.

    Ooma?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) Oprah I so wanted to post this first.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 09:31 AM) I'm also against all the weird things people do with the Hawks logo. Can't people just use it/wear it without changing it? I've seen so many odd t-shirts out there. I'm pretty much an old-fart traditionalist, but even though I consider it the best logo in spots, that really doesn't bother me, though personally I'd much rather spend my money on things that are official. Some are pretty creative. I saw an Indian head wearing a Bane mask with the word "Rise" that I got a big kick out of.
  4. Every time I have had a "bad feeling" about a particular game or series in these playoffs, things have turned out well for the Hawks. Therefore, I am happy to announce my prediction for the Finals is the Bruins in 6. I truly believe this, yet I also believe that I am an idiot. LET'S GO HAWKS.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) The only recent championship team that would have given the Bulls problems was the Lakers teams coached by Phil w/Shaq & Kobe. Bulls had absolutely no one that could stop Shaq and even during the latter years struggled greatly against those Lakers teams which fell short to Utah (thankfully cause they matched up great against the late 90 bulls squads). And I think all but the last of the Bulls championship squads beats those Laker teams. Definitely the early 90's bulls squads with Cartwright and Grant. I don't think stopping Shaq would have been the key to beating those Laker teams, anymore than it was in beating his Orlando teams (excluding the series when Jordan had just come back from baseball). They'd play hack-a-Shaq, and he'd get his points, but it would come down to other match-ups. I do agree that the Bulls still win.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) Eh, not sure I completely agree with that. He's been very good in the playoffs, but IMO I still take Buff if given the choice. Well, I'm mainly talking about the playoff versions of each, since both were so key in their respective conference finals. To me, Buff's main attribute was his size and his grit around the net. Bicks seems to match all of that, plus adds that sweet wrister.
  7. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:19 AM) Reminds me of the run & impact BIG BAD BUFF had our last Stanley Cup Finals victory. I completely agree, except BIG BAD BICK has more skills. He brings the big presence in front of the net we've been missing since Buff's departure, and has turned out to be an upgrade.
  8. I've probably been able to watch a combined total of one hour of White Sox baseball on TV this year. For some reason, after I saw on my phone we went up 5-0 in extras, I decided to tune in to see the bottom of that inning and the end of the losing streak. Gosh, what a pleasant viewing experience that was.
  9. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) It's not even the same ball. It's smaller. One time I accidentally grabbed a women's ball at a gym (I guess all the men's ones were checked out). I thought I was Reggie Miller when I was shooting around. I was making everything. It was a bit disheartening when someone else came to shoot at my rim and I felt their ball and realized it was bigger and heavier. I'm disappointed that its taken this long for someone to attribute the superiority of men's sports to their big balls.

    2013 TV Thread

The movie was pretty soapy (no pun intended), but Michael Douglas' performance as Liberace was terrific. I imagine most posters here are too young to remember the guy, but Douglas really nailed him (again, no pun).
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) Are you all still so sure that the Hawks would be better served facing the Bruins? That Pittsburgh D is a sieve. I haven't had a chance to watch a minute of that series, but I am shocked by the level of domination suggested by the combined 9-1 scores after two games in Pitt. Nobody could have predicted that.
  14. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 27, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) & just target Brendan Smith every chance they can. I love it when you analyze. Seriously, Smith was terrible.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2013 -> 09:12 AM) Did you not watch the 2009 reboot? The alternate timeline was formed in the 2009 movie due to Spock and Nero coming back in time. The timeline split on the day of Kirk's birth when the USS Kelvin was destroyed. From that moment on, history was rewritten. That would be at least 10 years before Pike took command of the enterprise in the classic timeline. In the alternate timeline there was a severe redesign of ships following the attack on the Kelvin, leading to a much larger Enterprise which probably also took extra time to construct. Effectively they are playing it out as 2 parallel timelines, with Spock prime being the only person who has crossed over and survived. Spock Prime lived most of his lifetime in the original timeline, was thrown back in time in Star Trek (2009), and will finish his days in the alternate timeline. Thanks (I almost posed those questions to you in a PM, without exposing my ignorance to the board). Yeah, like I wrote in reference to the "time travel", I did see it, but it apparently didn't leave that lasting an impression on me. I remembered there were differences with the demise of Kirk Sr. and the meeting of the old and new Spocks, but I guess I should have rewatched it or studied up, to make sure I understood all the implications.
  16. Whoever those guys were who wore the Red sweaters on the last two powerplays Saturday, I hope they travelled to the Joe today. The pressure on that first one was something to behold.
  17. I have questions about the rebooted "Star Trek" universe:
  18. I hate to brag, but I'm tied with Cpt. Serious for NHL playoff goals this season and only trailing Kaner by one. Granted, #19 is kicking my ass in penalties, but I'm really going to work on that from my couch. I'm confident because of the leadership I've provided, especially on the power play.
  19. This was cool of him to say about Jay Cutler: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...-surprises-some
  20. With the death in Florida yesterday and the revelations about this triple-murder, things have really taken a turn for the weird: http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/22/justice/flor....html?hpt=hp_t3
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 22, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) Listening to Kenny Albert do NHL games is so weird. True, but I thought he did well.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 22, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) June 14th can't come soon enough. I'm totally with you. If anyone can "humanize" the character and make a "realistic" Superman movie, its Nolan and company.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) What Brian didn't understand was that $2 million was NOT a lowball offer. It certainly wasn't for the player he'd become. Although still a ton of money, it was in proportion to his last contract's average ($8.7 M), but that's how it goes.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 22, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) He wasn't rejected by the Bears. In fact, HE rejected the Bears. Then they signed a bunch of dudes and said "sorry bro, ships full, feel me dog?" Well technically he rejected their lowball offer, so you're right about that, but that offer itself was a big kiss goodbye from Halas Hall, and almost certainly made with fingers crossed that he'd turn it down as hoped.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 22, 2013 -> 10:26 AM) Good for him anyways. This was always the best way to go out. Good that he "gets" to retire as a Bear, yeah, but it still has to hurt his pride like hell that it comes only after being rejected by them and elsewhere. The pre-announced "farewell tour" is the best way to go, but a rare few have the foresight.
