  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) I will hold out if KC picks me. There's no way you leapfrog Leon Sandcastle.
  2. Not sure I'll have time to watch this year, but I'm hoping to rent Argo before Sunday anyway, and maybe get to the show tonight to see another Best Picture nominee, either Django, Zero Dark 30, or Lincoln. I figure Lincoln is the most "Oscar-ish," but I'd get the biggest kick out of Django.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) ESPN Chicago ‏@ESPNChiHawks Hossa is on the ice and fully participating in practice. Crawford, too. ESPN Chicago ‏@ESPNChiHawks Crawford is out here, too. Don't see Emery, though. Karlsson is the second goaltender.
  4. Man, registration for the 2013 Chicago Marathon has been one gigantic clusterf***.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 18, 2013 -> 10:52 AM) After the last 2 weeks, i'm beginning to think Illinois has a shot at getting to 10 wins. PSU, NEB, Iowa and OSU and a loss to Michigan on the road. Even with a loss at OSU or Iowa, 9-9 would be pretty great from where they started. That's pretty optimistic. I'll be thrilled if they just get to .500 by taking care of business at home at knocking off Iowa. At least one in the conf. tourney would be nice, too.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) Interesting billboard downtown: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/14/b..._n_2686330.html Note: It's about the blow job billboard. I don't think of myself as a prude, but that is just all kinds of wrong.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) I love it when you analyze. +1 Thanks, I.K.
  8. When was the last time the Chicago Blackhawks consistently had a decent, let alone dominant, power play? I've been a fan for nealy 40 years, seen solid teams and s***ty ones, but good or bad, it seems the PP has, at its BEST, been just about league average. Even when we won the damn Cup it was below. Last night's OT was beyond frustrating.
  9. Good riddance. This Pope obviously had a tough act to follow, but I doubt anyone will be too sorry to see him go.
  10. I flipped to the Grammy's last night and caught some dude wearing a Yellow suit and '70s era ABA headband singing offkey about Forrest Gump. Frank Ocean, I assume? WTF
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Smart badger fans knew they don't rush there. So just the young kids went. These days, schools want the Grateful Red, Orange Crush-ish fan groups full of the young, loud and hyper. "Smart" may be a disqualification. It was lame, but I'm not casting any stones. My 20 year old self would have been all over it.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) Its going to be a strange year. But if Illinois is in the top 7 of the Big 10, I think they make the tournament. Agreed. Seven teams from this conference is certainly possible. Especially if the 7th has the quality wins of an Illinois.
  13. Good luck! All I ask in exchange for my several votes is that if you win and Nick Swisher stops by the cave again, you give him a kick in the nards.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) 1980 was still the disco era. False. Everyone knows that disco was demolished July 12, 1979.

There was a moment in last night's "The Following" that made my heart skip a beat and nearly loosened my colon. If I remembered how to use spoiler tags I'd describe and then hide it, but if you saw the episode I'm sure you can guess.
  17. Do you Oatsters use a Mason Jar, sealed Tupperware, or just cover a cereal bowl with foil or saran wrap? Does it matter? Thanks
  18. Have any guys on here ever tried yoga? I lift and run a couple times per week, but I'm debating about whether to give this a try. I think the increased flexibility would aid in preventing injuries as I get ready to train for a Fall marathon, and although I think I would feel ridiculous chanting, I'm intrigued by the stress relief its supposed to bring.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) --Take into account the 4 c's, but only up to a point. That'll get you into a price/look range, but after that ignore the numbers. They try to sell you on crap you will NEVER see. It's not worth spending an extra 2 grand on clarity when it takes a microscope to notice the difference. So long as the diamond isn't yellow, and so long as it's "bright" and clear, it's fine. Don't buy into the hype. This is great advice. The "closest up" anyone will ever examine it is probably 18", and unless its right next to another of signifcantly "better" quality, no one will know or care about that s***.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 08:02 AM) Exactly. With a goalie who could have games like that, the Hawks would be a cup favorite. Its obviously crazy early, but I think its reasonable to say they already are one. With the way all lines are clicking offensively and how the D pairings look, with a top tier goalie, we might be THE favorite (at least out of the West). This start out of the long layoff is really exciting. Remember when the Sox blew so bad after the '94 strike? That sucked. That said, this season, more than any other, is going to come down to health, which essentially comes down to luck.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 06:00 AM) One of the better pilots in a long time. I hope the rest of the episodes can maintain the suspense. I thought it was ok. It was certainly gory for network TV. Here's one "nitpick": Them not turing on the lights for like 5 minutes after they went to the female doctor's neighbors was just ridiculous.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 05:47 PM) When I read the thamel quotes, it seemed to be clear that Te'o was implying he met her, but going out of his way to never specifically refer to an actual meeting or what they actually did together. Yes, but it was clearly a false implication. An indirect lie, but a lie nevertheless. That's all that matters. I know its your thing to be contrarian, but whether he's a "victim" or not, he's still clearly a liar, which is the only thing those of us you seem to be challenging are really saying.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) That is meant to be the date that they officially started dating. That shouldn't have anything to do with football and honestly would most likely not have occurred on a gameday. My point was more that on the anniversary of their first "date," they presumably went on an actual date, which would be more likely to occur on a non-football Saturday. That, and the meeting with her that he spoke of at the USC game the year before (in November 2010) makes at least two in person contacts he's acknowledged on the record. He said they were acquaintenaces then friends before that (for a total of four years), which could suggest more meetings. However, Swarbrick said yesterday that their relationship was excludively an on-line one, so somebody is lying or seriously mistaken.
