  1. Or, what about, during the 1998 Championship rally in Grant Park, where he said that, if he had a choice of who to marry, it would be the 12 men sitting behind him. That had me ROTFLMAO for a LONG time!!!
  2. I must say that when he head-butted the referee against New Jersey, IIRC, my jaw dropped. Johnny Red Kerr was silenced for several moments (kinda Hawk-like when the Sox are trailing by quite a bit). That'll never clear my head.
  3. QUOTE(The Bones @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) It sucks that this game is on WCIU and the 2nd game is on CSN+ because the Bulls game on Tuesday. I won't be able to see either game against our division rivals and we don't play them again until the middle of August. You're at ISU, right? Try going to Elroy's...They usually have all the area games on the tv screens. If not, ask them if they would put it on, and they usually will. That's what I did sometimes while I was at ISU, and they generally were nice about it. They get satellite TV there.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) At least he wasn't in the 5th spot again. Perhaps we should trade for The Choice and put him as DH there, playing Everett in the field.
  5. What moment in Rodman's stint here will you remember most?
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) I love Rodman, but he's ugly as f***..lol Which brings up the next question...
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) and i am cereal. Nice to meet you, cereal! My name is Pancake. How are ya doing?
  8. Our favorite songs oft change...What is your favorite song at this moment? For the past couple of weeks, mine happens to be Howie Day's "Collide."
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) I won't be there. Would you go if TheBigHurtBEGOOD was there, or if SuperSteve launched the x-bomb on you if you didn't come???
  10. QUOTE(mac9001 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Best news i've heard all day, something about Timo really pisses me off. He's just not meant to be a starter...He's great off the bench in pinch-hitting situations, but leave him off the starting roster.
  11. My guessing his function on this team will be much like Rusty LaRue and Keith Booth on the 1997-1998 Bulls team?
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) There are a lot of admins and mods that have very specific funtions, that's all I was trying to say. So, Jason's is crashing Soxtalk, right? (that joke never gets old)
  13. I've never been into drafts, to be honest with you, because It's a cold day in the dog days of summer before I watch much college sporting events, so I wouldn't even know the significance any of the draftees would bring to the table.
  14. I don't think there's a such statistic as a "tough loss;" however, you might wanna try asking JUGGERNAUT with regards to things such as quality starts. JUGGERNAUT seems to be the king of statistics here at Soxtalk.
  15. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) lets just hope he is ready to steal some bases If not, then we've gotta get Ozuna out there instead of Timo.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Fishermans wharf is cool and I've only been there for short time and it was so long ago when I went to some of the museums that I couldn't even tell you if they were good or not. Funny thing about Fisherman's Wharf...When the family went on an all-California coastal trip back in the summer of 1993, my parents both wanted to eat there. After a great deal of whining on our part, we ate at, you guessed it, WENDY'S! Go to Telegraph Hill, then there's the twistiest street in the nation there (I think it's called Lombard Ave. or something, but it's been so long that I don't really remember), and you'll wanna check out the Golden Gate Bridge...
  17. Joe Crede...Jose Valentin... Jose Valentin...Joe Crede... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... My answer would be.... GREG NORTON!!!
  18. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) I'd email Brooks with your feedback. bboyer@chisox.com?
  19. I haven't taken a stroll to the outfield concourse yet this year. The new Fundamentals area seems to be directly over where the left field shower existed. Does this mean that my favorite part of the ballpark does not exist anymore, or did they just move it? If so, is it still in left field?
  20. I know it's kinda early, but I thought I'd get this going for good luck... I'll be at the game once again and hope for a Sox winner. We've gotta get wins against the Twinkies early in the season to help "set the tone" for the rest of the season. Here's hoping that Contreras brings his A game to the table and that "smart ball" wins out in the end...
  21. Today was the first time I was able to see the introductions, since I got to the ballpark yesterday just in time to see Buehrle's first pitch, and I have to say that, even though Thunderstruck is back in the introductions, I am MAJORLY disappointed!!! The first half of the whole thing seems hugely WEAK compared to what they did last year and the year before. The music they had last year, coupled with showing images of Sox past, and then kicking it up by introducing each player individually to Thunderstruck sent chills up and down my spine every time I heard it. First off, the music they do the whole thing to before introducing the players is rather lame in my book. Secondly, it just doesn't seem to have the same appeal as the outstanding graphics of past years. In addition, you do not "salad bowl" images in Sox history together...You organize them according to era, as was done last year...And finally, the transition from that to Thunderstruck is done very poorly. Hopefully they can bring back what they had last year, because what I saw today just doesn't do it for me...
  22. QUOTE(farmteam @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Ozuna should be playing over Timo, period. Agreed and expounded on in the Ozuna thread...
  23. I want Ozuna out there EVERY DAY that Podsednik isn't able to play. He is able to spark the entire offense by getting on base leading off by use of the bunt. He seems to play with far more passion than Timo, and fits Ozzie's "smart ball" concept more to a T. When I heard Timo was starting AGAIN today, my heart sunk...Timo is nothing more than a bench player. He's good off the bench and comes up with some clutch hitting (off the BENCH), but don't start him over Ozuna!
  24. If you want to see the Sox take batting practice, the best way would be to eat a meal at the Stadium Club Restaurant. The restaurant has seatings over two hours before game time, and you have an easy view of the entire stadium from the windows (every table has a great view, as it is organized in tiers). Dinners are expensive, as one buffet costs in the neighborhood of $50-60. The food there is unbeatable, though! If you're interested in having a dinner at the Stadium Club Restaurant, I'd suggest talking to someone you know who's a season ticket holder. Only season ticket holders and their guests are allowed to dine in the establishment (you're name is put on a "list," and the season ticket holder must be present to sign the list).
