  1. I’m not opposed to that either. I just wouldn’t flip out over this player. Especially since we don’t know the deal.
  2. It was edited to read “Again”. 2019 is over 20% of his career plate appearances. He’s 24. I see development and more upside.
  3. There aren’t sure things in free agency. I can appreciate their position. It all boils down to what they have to give up. There’s a lot of upside. Especially if used properly.
  4. Again I ask, career? His 2019 plate appearances account for over 20% of his career plate appearances. He’s 24. Let’s not hyperventilate here folks. Depending on what the Sox give up, the deal can be more than fine and productive for the Sox.
  5. I agree but let’s see what the deal is. What’s anything of value?
  6. Career? He’s 24 years old. His wRC+ last year against RHP was 110. I take development into account. Just like I would Moncada and other young players.
  7. What’s a bad deal? We don’t even know what the deal is. If platooned with someone who hits LHP, it could potentially work.
  8. Against RHP he is. That’s what’s productive. He’s not my choice and I’m not in love with the move (If finalizes). But if used correctly and platooned, he could be productive. That’s just the truth based on the numbers.
  9. That isn’t true. Against RHP he is. There’s no argument there.
  10. He’d be a platoon player with the potential, at 24 years old, to develop more. If the majority of his AB’s are against RHP, there’s nothing disappointing about that. He’s very productive.
  11. What the Sox FO deemed to be the "Best Offer" is different than stating they had the "highest offer." They didn't have the highest guaranteed offer. KW openly said they could not get to $300M guaranteed. By all accounts, they were around $250M guaranteed, but did get over $300M with incentives. What the previous poster said is they claimed to have the highest offer to Machado. They never made that claim.
  12. No they didn't. They said Machado could have ended up making more money with their offer. That possibility was true, regardless of what people think of the quality of guaranteed deals vs guaranteed + incentives deals.
  13. No doubt it has inflated his price tag. Signing any pitcher to a large, 5 year deal is risky. But it has to be done. On the plus side, his peripherals are very good and bodes well for success. I agree, I would worry about his health. Hopefully post this offseason, the White Sox will potentially be 7 deep where starting pitching is concerned. I also hope there is a little front loading going on the first 2-3 years of the deal.
  14. I wouldn't be a fan of signing anyone either if I signed Denny Neagle and Mike Hampton to long term deals...
  15. No thanks. They're going to be horrible again. Save the pick and money.
  16. True, but they have to start somewhere. The Cubs weren't always the Cubs. The Golden State Warriors used to be a laughing stock franchise a decade ago and before. Now they're one of the most valuable franchises in the NBA. Like I said, the Sox need to start somewhere and Harper is exactly what they need. Let's get it done.
  17. It seems people should now be more concerned about the Dodgers...... I believe if LA comes to the table with a long term offer similar to that of the Phillies or White Sox, he'll go to LA.
  18. I'm sure the Yomiuri Giants checked in with Harper's camp as well....... ??
  19. Why? The Phillies were in on Machado and would not guarantee him $300M but are considered by many to be the front runners for Harper. Harper will get more than Machado. Phillies openly said the $300M Machado received did not match what they believed his value was. By the way, I don't personally agree with their stance.
  20. I actually think Harper signing elsewhere would be worse for me. It would signify the end of this offseason for the White Sox. Which was highly anticipated. It would also signify, without any other relevant free agents available, that they failed at every turn this offseason. It would be a huge disappointment and step back to the plan in my opinion. So Jerry, Rick, and Kenny better get it together these next few days. We have a big fucking fish to land.
  21. That wouldn't shock me as long as there was a vision where they could contend over the next few years. Especially if said team offered $330M+.
  22. As far as I'm concerned, you hit the nail on the head. Well said.
