White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05
brijames replied to sox-r-us's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Here is a little advice to all of you from a 30+ years White Sox fan. Relax and enjoy this team! We have the best friggen record in all of BB. Yes the Chicago White Sox! Enjoy this ride and don't get all worked up over the few weaknesses this team has. Every team has weaknesses. Enjoy every game and the never say die attitude this group has. It isn't often we have a season like this to enjoy. Don't get caught up in being negative when things go bad. A lot more has gone good than bad and for as upset as some of you have let yourself get tonight it looks like were still gonna win this game ! -

Walks are killing the kid. The 2 run hit was not hit hard. If he doesnt start finding the plate we are going to need about 10 runs to win this tonight. -

Brandon has to get the curve over for strikes. They are sitting on his fastball right now. -

Why can't Crede shorten his swing? Every AB he is swinging for the fences. -

Lima time has 45 pitches through 2 innings. Lets get to that Royals bullpen early. -
Did anyone else notice on the pitch before his homerun, how he just missed it fouling it straight back. He was pissed he missed it and I said to myself, that was the pitch to end it, and lo and behold he gets another one almost the same place and destroyed it and the Tigers!
-
Ok we got the 2 back, now Lo has to get his head out of his a** and pitch!
-
We flat out can't win this thing with both Frank and Mags out. That is just too much offense to lose. Damn!

How we do against this Tiger team begining tonight is going to go along way in deciding if we win this division or not. We have 19 games left with them which is incredible. This however is no where near the same Tiger team as last year. That team was absolutely horrendous, basically it was a Triple AAA team playing at the major league level. This years Tiger team is very competitive and get hit the ball as well as they have some outstanding young pitchers who are starting to come along. The Sox better take this team very serious and establish some dominance starting right of the bat this weekend. They need no worse than 2 out of 3 and hopefully a sweep, but that will be difficult. They can't let this Tiger team get any momentum started against them and then maybe start beleiving they can challenge for the Division. In other words they need to knock these guys out early, and let them start thinking this season is a wash and look to next year.

It's performances like this that lead to me having no faith in this team. The Sox are once again making an absolute lousy pitcher with an ERA of over 7 look like Cy Young. A good team lights this guy up big time! The Sox are simply an average team. They are only competitive in the weakest division in baseball. This is a 4 team race to win the Central. The Sox will absolutely have their hands full with Cleveland and Detroit here in the second half.
-
Yes! runners at the corners with 1 out!
-
As stupid as this may sound this is one of those games that can help to make or break a season. The Sos desperately need to win this!
-
For those of you who jumped all over me for saying this team lacks character you are seeing exactly what I meant. While the Twins are taking care of business beating the teams they are supposed to, the Sox are on their way to their 5th straight loss and basically showing why this ballclub is not a winning one. Watch for the infighting and negativity to start big time as they fall farther out of contention. You are seeing a prime example of the individual comes before team attitude that has been and is pervasive on this ballclub with the whole Ordonez contract fiasco.
-
Bottom line this was just a very frustrating weekend, getting swept by your crosstown rival. This has to be the last wake up call for this Sox team. No more room for getting swept in a series. Lets see what this ballclub is made of now, and see them come out and kick some azz the second half!
-
Thats why I love visiting here and posting. So many nice Sox fans to share opinions with. None of that angry attacking and namecalling like so many other message boards. Geez relax a little people! I'm not saying the Sox are hoping they lose. I'm just expressing an opinion of what I see as missing from this ballclub, this year as well as the past few years. I just don't see the passion from the players. This team just seems to go through the motions too many games during the year.
-
All I can say is there better have been some busted up lockers in that clubhouse after that loss tonight. And tell me, who is the vocal leader of this team? The guy who does whatever it takes to win. The guy who can't stand losing.
-
And what they have lacked for years is players with character and a passion and urgency for winning. I just see too many guys on this team that really don't give a crap about winning. Tonight was a game that you flat out find a way to win it. This team too often finds a way to lose it. Tonights game was exactly the type of game you will have in the playoffs. Im afraid this group for the most part is used to losing the big games and series, especially in September. They just don't seem to get too bothered about losing. And because of that fact as much as I want to see the Sox win this Division and make noise in the playoffs, I don't see it happening. I don't see any leadership on this team. Players who refuse to lose.
-
I understand message boards like these are full of blind loyalists who live and die with their teams but c'mon, this Sox team had and now has choke written all over them. In the worst division in Baseball they show their true selfish colors. This is nothing but a group of individuals playing for their own numbers, who could care less about winning or the fans. A bunch of egotistical over paid bums! All they care is that their million dollar checks arrive on time so they can get that new set of golf clubs and get those tee times in AZ reserved. I have rarely seen a team withy less character or guts. They will go down as expected, without any fight at all. Time to clean house from the manager down.
-
If nothing else the Sox are as predictable as the sun rising in the east. what amazes me is all the die hards who don't have a friggin clue how much this team lacks any kind of chemistry or heart . Im so sick of hearing about their so called talent. When is the last time this talented group won a game that meant something. You watch the back stabbing and quitting that happens the rest of the way now. These guys could care less if they win a title or not. Those of you who worship the ground they walk on and wear their jerseys and build online shrines to them really need to wake up and realise they could give a crap about you or winning. They are making their golf plans for the winter and cashing their checks. This team will finish .500 or worse.

The twinkies smell blood and know with a win tonight the race is over. Look for them to jump all over Garland early and not look back. I look for the Sox to really go in the tank after last nights loss. This is not a team but a group of individuals. Teams pull together and fight as one in times like these, kinda like your seeing from the Twin's. Given any excuse to throw in the towel and this group will take it. As someone in another post mentioned the Twins were ripe for the taking all year long. The Sox could of pulled away and had this thing clinched right now. But instead they lose 8 games to the Tigers and let the Twins stay close until they got there stuff together and now smell yet another Division title. The Sox may have more individual talent but their not even close to being the TEAM the Twins are.
-
A team without any character doesn't discover it overnight. I fully expect this team to finish without much of a fight, and i wouldn't be at all surprised if they finish behind the Royals. Too many individuals and not enough team.
-
yea those 8 losses look huge right now don't they.
-
This team has officially tanked it. Their last two performances against the Royals were nothing short of pathetic, even for their standards. With 7 of their last 13 against the Tigers the Twins are absolutely in the drivers seat. It almost means the Sox have to sweep this upcoming series with the twinkies. It's really a rotten shame that this division will be decided because of the Twins having the luxury of playing the worst team in major league baseball history 7 stinking times to close the season.
