Keuchel and Ryu are going to require multi-year deals. So our 2020 Rotation would be Gio Ryu Keuchel Kopech Cease Lopez Rodon after the ASB 2021 will be all all those same guys plus maybe Dunning. It doesn't make any sense to sign 2 multi-year SP unless your plan is to trade someone.

So who are you trading? Keuchel is trending down and Ryu is often injured. Wheeler all day

The problem is, his much cheaper replacement should be up 2021 unless something goes really wrong this year. There is 0 reason to bring back Abreu on a 2 or 3 year deal. 3 years would be awful.

Giving up on Lopez right now is dumb as hell. He is absolutely maddening at times, inconsistent as hell, and needs another out pitch. He's also young and cost controlled and has shown plenty of flash. You can do much worse than him as your 5th man.

Sure there's always that risk. But outside of the top 2 he's the least risky best pitcher. Ryu is fantastic when he's healthy, he just never is. Then you are getting into downtrends like Keuchel and MadBum. If the Sox sign Wheeler and he just sucks you can't blame the FO for that.

The only problem, if you can call it that, is Ricky is going to have to be a little creative with lineup construction now with the lineup rotations. And he's fucking bad at that.
