They already blew last offseason, in the majority of players that they acquired and the one that they wanted but whiffed on. I believe you had even stated before the end of last offseason that you would be upset at the front office if they failed to land a top free agent. Meanwhile, you have Stone saying stupid things to the fans and sounding like he is speaking for management by seemingly downplaying long-term contracts for free agents. They actually did this all last offseason. Everyone knew that the Sox were “all in” on Machado... until the very last second when the Padres stole him away. Where were you?

Oh, they can still lose with both Collins and Mendick. But wasting valuable major league at bats on a guy like Goins is pointless when you could be giving a guy like Mendick a trial run.

I understood giving Reed a shot but he’s bad. Collins should be getting his at bats now. And why did Goins get called up over Mendick? Goins has no future. Mendick could be a cheap replacement for Yolmer. Maybe try to find out if the guy can hit for the remaining half of the season?

The lineup as it stands probably could but Anderson and Eloy will be coming back soon.

If a player is sacrificing all of their power potential with two strikes just to make contact and weakly ground out, I could see how that player’s power numbers and extra base hits would be affected over the course of a full season of at bats. The other side of the coin is that maybe some of that weak contact finds a hole and leads to a single while swinging harder with two strikes could lead to a strikeout. There has to be a happy medium.

A few of them shouldn’t be.

This front office was losing before the rebuild so what does it matter? My main point is that some fans don’t have any faith that our front office will sign TOP TALENT free agents to fill in the team’s holes, such as a top FA starter like Cole or a top FA corner outfielder like Ozuna, due to their embarrassing showing last offseason.
