  1. Spiff, not what I wrote at all. Read it again, and read the game thread. A certain segment of the fans exhibit manic behavior with their utter despair and that is in today's game thread as well as in others. I have never made a comment on the team other that to praise our players for not being quitters as some of our fans accuse them of being, instead, I think some our fans are quitters. You are a good guy Spiff. Please read what I said more carefully. read the game thread and all too, carefully. I suspect a few posts were deleted by their authors because of the extreme negatvity and absolute certainly that we were losers because we were trailing by a run in the 5th and 6th inning of a team, and the comments that accompanied that. But read the thread carefully, that and threads like it is what I refer to, and I am far from the only person who ahs npoticed the extreme mood swings by some of our fans. And as good a student as you are, please do me the favor, whether you agree or disagree, of reading what I write with acuuracy. Your intelligent and informed comments, in agreement or disagreement, would be constructive and welcome for me.
  2. that is a bulls*** "guess" to mask your usual personal insults and/or insinuations and it is bulls*** as you know. Don't pull the "I love the sox more than you" s*** on me.
  3. not in my experience - not at all. It may be a factor of the cyber room or something else, but hope and resignation may define two emotions in Sox fans, but not these rapid mood swings and the "that's it, I'm done with this game/team/whatever" as so frequently posted, usually about the 5th or 6th inning, and all of the extreme negativity. The game thread for today - assuming nothing has been deleted by the authors - is a massive clinical testament and clinical witness to manic depression, especially under the diagnostic manual IV.
  4. oh yeah. I was there yesterday, going back Saturday. If I ever have an extra ticket to the Big House or USCF, interested? I am 35 miles NE of GR.

I doubt that, seriously, as to more NCAA championships. I doubt you checked the link I posted. Not in all sports. Football? We have more wins and I am checking the stats on winning percentage now. And head to head, we have, as posted won over 60% of our games against you. And you can't come close to our consecutive bowl appearances, including factoring in the years that we both couldn't go because of Big 10 and ND policy into the 70s. Notice in this thread of teams we "hate" or "root against" I haven't posted any team. In my perfect season, UM would be be 13-0, OSU would be 12-1, ND would be 12-1, ok, MSU would have to be 11-2 and the Illini 10-3 or something like that. I like all of our opponents to win against other teams so when we win, it is better, and a more significant game. I certainly pull for ND to beat USC and wanted them to beat Nebraska badly. Besides, if Notre Dame had like a ten year Holy Roller from Moeller era again, the Michigan-Notre Dame game would lose all its luster. Speaking of Faust, I do despise Jerry Johnson for what he did in running up the score in Faust's last game. As classless an action as could happen.

I have attended GVSU's GR campus - and if you were lurking last December you may remember my GVSU celebration - saw the Lions cuts Anes but hope he will clear waivers so he can play NFL Europe and try again next year. What a qb that kid is. I assumed the Saginaw St referance was because of Muddy Waters, given the inclusion of MSU on your list. I can't consider Saginaw St a rival to GVSU - there are no rivals to GVSU - they dominate so much. Go Lakers!

I suppose that you do cheer for other teams to beat Michigan because the teams you cheer for sure as hell don't. Michigan's record against: Illinois 62 21 2 .741 Notre Dame 17 11 1 .603
  9. are they playing 2 today?
  10. Tiger radio announcers thought he didn't pitch that bad, was just off by inches. Just passing that along. They also thought that at any moment the Sox bats would explode because they were hitting well but just at people. That is at any rate what I heard on the radio during Saturday's game coming back from Ann Arbor. The Tiger radio announcers also really like Garland. The Tiger tv announcers today were besides themselves praising Loaiza - said he was one of the smartest pitchers in the majors. And they said with our starters, if we get into the playoffs, we could go quite far. juus passing that info along
  11. if I recall, the standings on the sox mlb site have been wrong for a few days -
  12. and we were no hit by the Tigers into the 7th a few weeks ago and won with ease - let that be your memory guide and not the negative. I sure hope our players recall that they can win when trailing and not get negative and give up. As far as I suppose we thank God that it is good we are done with the Tigers!
  13. I get all frustrated when we lose, and am never happy when we trail, but I can't control what happens on the field I can control whether I am going to recall a lifetime of baseball expeience that says "sometimes teams trail and still win" especially when we had this same experience with Detroit the Friday after the all star game (and was that cornejo pitching too or am I wrong on that...) or whether I am going to lose it. It is my firm conviction that when you trail, in life or in baseball, the thing to do is stay calm, stay in control, and believe that one can pull it out rather than punch things, punch people, or toss off verbal abuse in any direction. We will lose games between now and the end of the season. If we lose it every time we trail or lose, we won't win anything, or be fit company for each other. We can lose 8 games in the post season and trail in 19 and still win it all. To reach that goal, winning it all, gotta stay calm in the face of adversity.
  14. in my opnion, you are exactly wrong the game threads are increasingly annoying as hell because of the negativity, not less "boring". There is nothing worse than a bunch of pathetic repepitive whining post after post. The game threads are becoming very difficult to read and very depressing to read with the increased we suck we can't win this team is filled with quitters quitting and whining and wilting that every game thread gets filled with every time we trail the thought of reading a month of game threads in a division title race knowing that yes we will trail in some games again is more than I care to contemplate I find myself going over to the mlb boards to get away from the negatvity and motor posting of "we suck we have no chance we can never win" FOR A FIRST PLACE TEAM and I never thought anything would get me back to reading the mlb boards
  15. I disagree, most of the Detroit players definititely have something to play for. THEIR JOBS!!! that would be true
  16. he still talks about it
  17. print these out and memorize them and repeat them next time we trail in a game - and as sure as God made little green apples we will trail in a game again before the season is over... oh, some people will need to ahve these words tattooed on their ass since they have their heads stick up theirs and that will be their only place to read it: D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one. Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Otter: Germans? Boon: Forget it, he's rolling. Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... [thinks hard] Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! [runs out, alone; then returns] Bluto: What the f*** happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer-- Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. Bluto: We're just the guys to do it. D-Day: Let's do it. Bluto: LET'S DO IT!!
  18. true and we have also rallied to beat them there are a bunch of folk here with whom I would never want tos it with at a game just because the contant refrain of "we suck" is far more annyoing than losing - let alone merely trailing in an incomplete game that is why our players are competive and in 1st place - they don't give up
  19. well it has twice in a row - and I hope it continues -
  20. and where were you in the game thread when most of our own fans were posting as if we had 100 losses? this is the most bipolar group of people I have ever spent time with we are in first and no one thinks we got there because we win games - get down 0-1 with this group and it is slash wrists and really depressing posts I enjoy listening to the Tiger broadcasters because they keep praising our FIRST PLACE team and in the 6th, they still thought there were more innings to be played rather than give up like our fans - it is not our players who quit, it is our fans our fans are quitters and bandwagon riders rough talk but I am not pulling any punches with this group of "we suck" give ups - go through the game thread and find every post like that - and these are supposed to be people cheering for our team - now of course that we had a 4-2 road trip every mid game quitter will be proclaiming their die hard Sox fan ness when instead "wilt easy" describes more folks than "die hard" does
  21. lots of our people at the game today chanting for the Sox - 2-2 on the slightly overweight Dmitri Young...
  22. dmitri young's 16 game hitting streak... 0-2
  23. in a game thread - these things are so depressing and so amusing - it is about cheering for one's team, not veering into manic depression! did they do it for you? or will this board sink into the deep depression the next game in which we trail?
