  1. I just looked out my window - no pigs flying - therefore I guess Colon loses no weight

HSF said he was going - buy him his ticket and leave it at will call - that way he can be there a few minutes late and still sit with you

they were announced all weekend on the scoreboard - fireworks for tonight - caught my buddy's eye because it is not the norm to have Wednesday fireworks but I saw the announcement and heard Ed and John mention it a few times zach - HSF told me Sunday that if the Sox won Mon and Tuesday he was going Wednesday so you hold him to that!

yeah, there were fireworks scheduled for tonight - too bad they cancelled them - the fireworks for the 4th at Comiskey have always been splendid HSC, I'm still guessing hghi on walkups because of what I've heard people say, but your ratio ale is also very justifable - I hope the crowd is as big as the last two nights, to keep the momentum going and as a nice send off until we see them again on the 17th -

10,000 + walk ups tonight is my guess
  6. that is what passes for sports journalism these days - not anything that is work or news, just trash talk, the biggest insult wins
  7. Weaver is the type of stud that is best used for holding up walls. He has an asshole personality and he hasn't exactly been blossoming in NY. And Boras continues to be his agent so we'd never be able to re-sign him.
  8. I wear it wherever I go - having silver and black as our colors means it works fine with clerical shirts as well as formal wear for gents
  9. agree on Ring I doubt Alomar is a shell of former self, think he still has something to offer and losing D'Lo is a major plus: like when we traded for Jose and Eldred, didn't mater what they did, they were taking Navarro and Snyder from us, so God bless the trade! Alomar gives us anything, it is all gravy
  10. the thread title is "one thing to miss about D'Lo." His hit on Friday, his home run against the Tigers Sunday of opening weekend. That's it. I shall miss nothing else about him if he goes. If Rios goes, I can't think of a thing I shall miss, and shall rejoice he will not ever pinch hit for Miguel "Grand Slam" Olivo.
  11. your analogy, Garland to Ring, works there, but in no way does the analogy work with Alomar and Karchner.
  12. "Get busy"... When is the last time you were at the park? that was my thought but I was too chicken s*** to say it
  13. WHITE SOX ACQUIRE SECOND BASEMAN ROBERTO ALOMAR AND CASH IN EXCHANGE FOR THREE MINOR LEAGUERS CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have acquired second baseman Roberto Alomar, a 12-time All-Star, 10-time Rawlings® Gold Glove winner and four-time Silver Slugger award winner, and cash considerations from the New York Mets in exchange for minor-league pitchers Edwin Almonte and Royce Ring and infielder Andrew Salvo. Alomar, 35, is hitting .262 (69-263) with an on-base percentage of .336 in 73 games with the Mets in 2003. The switch hitter has two home runs, 22 RBI and six stolen bases. Alomar is a career .302 (2,256-8,649) batter with 203 home runs, 1,093 RBI and 468 stolen bases in 16 seasons with San Diego (1988-90), Toronto (1991-95), Baltimore (1996-98), Cleveland (1999-01) and the Mets (2002-03). He was named to 11 consecutive All-Star teams from 1991-2001. “Roberto continues to be a player with impressive offensive ability, and we are excited about what he brings to our lineup and our defense on the field,” said Ken Williams, White Sox general manager. “He is a switch hitter who has always shown the ability to get on base and score runs, while still being an extra-base threat at the plate.” Alomar owns a .981 fielding percentage this season and a .984 mark for his career. He holds the record for consecutive errorless games by a second baseman with 90 from 1994-95. His 10 Gold Gloves are the most ever by a second baseman. “Roberto gives us athleticism and experience on the right side of the infield,” said Williams. “He is one of the best second base gloves in the history of the game and his presence will help improve our team defense.” Alomar rejoins his brother, Sandy, who catches for the White Sox. Almonte, 26, is 2-6 with 14 saves and a 6.88 ERA (26 ER/34.0 IP) in 30 games at Class AAA Charlotte. The right-hander is 21-29 with 83 saves and a 3.12 ERA (149 ER/429.1 IP) in six minor-league seasons with the Sox. Ring, 22, is 1-4 with 19 saves and a 2.52 ERA (10 ER/35.2 IP) in 36 games at Class AA Birmingham. The club’s first-round pick in the 2002 draft, the left-hander is 3-4 with 24 saves and a 2.83 ERA (20 ER/63.2 IP) in two seasons with the Sox organization. Salvo, 23, has split the season between Class A Kannapolis and Class A Winston-Salem, hitting .223 (25-112) with one home run and six RBI in 42 games. The second baseman is a career .273 (168-615) hitter in three seasons.
  14. me too - also wish it weren't Ring - why couldn't we give them Rios and D'Lo?
  15. thius has bulls*** urban legend written all over it, made up, fabricated, trash making the rounds via email the reason the press didn't report it, knee jerk spasmodic right wing loonies, is that it never happened.

can you think of any yankee teams that played at or below 500 in recent years, in the month before the playoffs, and won it all? I can, very easily. our pitching was good enough - it was our hitting that hurt us and there was not a team there that we couldn't beat, even though we didn't. we were as helpless as the Patriots against the Rams, as OSU against Miami...

who expected the "inevitable" in 2000? That is not so. We looked for great things in the playoffs - we had knocked the Yankees and Cleveland soundly in that 2 week span in June and we were not intimidated there and the west didn't scare us - we were expecting top go far then against Seatlle Frank, Mags, and PK had 1 hit between all 3 in the three games - that is what cost us in the play-offs, but expectations were very high; no one I knew as expecting anything "inevitable"

attendance follows the year after a great season - unless that following year the team really sucks look at 1984 - we not only outdrew ourselves from the 1983 season, we outdrew the scrubs and they won their division that year - anyone can look it up - look at the numbers from 94 following the 93 season - then of course the lock out and JR's role and our diminished team hurt us in 95 we had some horrid weather on many of our May and early June homestands in 2000 which hurt attendance as the team began winning - and in September 2000, to my surprise, we had low attendance - mid June through August we did fine - the effects of the 2000 season should have been felt in 2001 but we fell so fast so out of it that we killed all walk up business that 29,000 were at the Cell last night is fantatastic support and if that can keep on, we'll do ok I understand the casual fan not attending unless the team is winning but not anyone who claims to be a true fan - with Monday and Tuesday being half price, with cheap enough seats in the upper deck, hell, anyone who signs a kid up for the silver and black pack gets 6 free tickets - there are plenty of inexpensive ways to go my theory is, if I want the dead to get up off their dead ass and play hard, then I should bet up off of mine and be there
  22. if KW makes a move, I suggest a move to one of the Carolinas or anywhere far away from the White Sox - that is the KW move I want!
  23. I was hoping he would do it yesterday
