  1. steam away all you want. "forced" practices do not exist. There is a policy that is in place in the voluntary association of MLB. You belong to the voluntary organization, you abide by the rules. In case law, constitutional law, affirmative action exists for very good legal and historical reasons. If that is 'forced" trhan any use of the law if "forced." Tradffic laws are "forced." Laws of anmy kind are "force". You want anarchy, go for it, but I prefer to live in acountry where the rule of law prevails. You have been doing a great job of labeling others for a while and you squeal when you think it happens to you. I never said you were a member of the militia, did I. I said your style of ridicule goes over well there. Dispute that? For white boy references, go back and read all of CKs posts, which you have identified with in your use of the word "we." Those references to white males are stunning to say the least. Closemindedness is your forte, not mine, I easily live in a world of diversity and equal opportunity. And of course, you are a white male, aren't you? I'd be real surprised to have you turn out to be a black female. And you final protest, "don't label" me is exactly why we need to have policies and programs in place so that all people - ALL people - have equal access to things which apply under the constitution. Labels have been used to deny - and now polciies have been put into place to redress centuries of historical and actual wrongs which continue to this day, as shown by your continued opposition to a policy of inclusive hiring practices.
  2. I cannot find the time to folow the draft at all so i rely on others - what can you tell me about Brian Anderson? Is that a good choice or not? I just do not know and request your opinion.
  3. Glover hasn't been bad every time - he's had a mixture of good and bad outings. And that makes it hard to figure. The rest of your post, well done, very comprehensive, great analysis, and I could go along with it all.

if JB keeps on, yeah, and a welcome exchange it will be
  5. If he is on record as saying that, then show me the link to it. Prove it. And of course you are confusing the MLB with the NBA, aren't you. MLB has its policies, I am not sure myself what polcies if any are in effect in the NBA, but the NBA is not an issue and hasn;t been for years because they have been equal opportunity employers for years. That is why Michael Jorgan in DC and the Pistons with Joe Dumars as GM, just two examples that easily come to mind, both fired black coaches and hired white ones, and not a word of protest from your favorite boogeyman J. Jackson (do you mean Janet Jackson? Joe Jackson?) because NBA franchises hire on an equal opportunity basis. NBA franchises have been hiring without reference to race for years. Notice how the other facvorite person to attack, Jerry Reinsdorf, who has been accused of only hiring minorities and refusing to fire them for racial reasons, managed to hire a new GM for the Bulls who was white. How did that happen? And there was no protest! That defeats your argument, doesn't it? In the NBA, there is a clear track record of non discrimination. And JR does not hire on acoc*** of race. MLB is a different story. And that is at issue.
  6. You are against minority persons being interviewed but in favor of them being hired. How can they get hired if they are not interviewed? You shut the door and favor the door being shut but then say eveyone is weelcome in the room. It makes no sense, and is just another illogical and nonsensical defense for preserving white male priviledges. What is ridiculous is your argument, and to start tossuing in the "Icelandians" is a sign of when you have no argument, you throw in bulls*** which you know is know is bulls*** and maybe good for a cheap laugh at the Militia meetings but that that is not the issue.
  7. now Kimm tossed - what is the record for most managers and coaches tossed from one team in a game?
  8. Only the last 56 seconds - we should have been way ahead - played badly - to have Indiana tie us in our own stadium, damn. When Corso went for the tie (kick) rather than win (two point), you know that just to tie us was a huge victory for them. But what a finish! The stadium was just roaring for the whole last drive - sometimes as you know that crowd can will the team to victory. for sure, being at, and probably, ever. The only other game that hurt close was the 99 Illinois game since we could see it coming long before it did. Then again, the 2000 game was sweet revenge and I went to Champiagn just to get it. Only time in my life, by the way, i was ever physically frightened - the drunk Illini fans were very threatening and about 100 of us in maize and blue gathered together and stood together until they left - self protection. And then the next day the Sox clinched the division - what a sweet weekend. Other bad games were the series of slim OSU losses (12-10, 14-11) and the 10-10 tie when the Big 10 voted to send OSU and not us to the Rose Bowl in the early 70s - kind of toughened one up. Those were the days when only 1 Big Ten team was allowed to go to a bowl - wonder if you kids even realize there were days like that! We were undefeated and weren;t allowed to go to any bowl! The first time any Big 10 team played other than the Rose Bowl, when more than 1 team was allowed to go bowling, was the 1976 Orange Bowl, where we lost to Oklahoma. It was so stunning though that two Big Ten teams were allowed to go to a bowl... I was watching on tv and besides the pain of losing as you say, and losing that way to that team, was the fact that it was A Train fumbling - that was what, his only fumble in 4 years (almost)? That it happened to him, being such a class person and player, made it hurt more than if it had been Terrell, just because you felt so bad for Thomas. Carr's first game and we were down 17-0 going into the 4th. Scary thinking our new coach was going to get shut out - scary wondering who the new coach was - and then, then 4th quarter We all thought Dreisbach was going to better than anyone and Biatakapuka was going to set every record. You weren't alone in that. I would question that too. But Carr has rarely made the same mistake twice. And despite the occasion questionable decision, Carr is a damn whole lot better than Moeller. Yost, Crysler, Shembechler, Carr - those 4 names go together.
  9. that is not a good thing, it means I just keep going on and on, so I am off for tonight, see everyone tomorrow or Sunday or Monday or something.
  10. I think it was at last year's All-Star game. wrong, it was the day before, last year's All Star Home Run contest. He hasn't been the same since.
  11. Without the exact MLB policy in front of me now, and having been a week or so since I read it, my guesses are (a) no and (B) yes. Interim is interim. And the problem being addresed are those who have not had equal chances, not those who have had the advantages over others. The best example is the NBA. They have had equal hiring for so long, it is now irrelevant who is hired because teams are hiring on a total equal opportunity basis so no pays any attention anymore.
  12. no, it is not. Do you know our nation's history on race? What are you, 28? You don't seem to have a clue where this nation has been. If you think the days of segregation were better than now, then I'd be real proud of what you believe.
  13. but Frank hits one... 2-0 Sox.
  14. That would be a good idea, yes? I'd rather have a few blow jobs going around than the chronic drug use and chronic alcoholism of the Bush family... as well as the destruction of the American economy and the making of our nation to be an increased target for international hatred and terrorism. But - we all have our preferences!
  15. Of course that is wrong. But then, whereas, of course G Bush has arrested Osama bin laden and shut down al queda and there is no more terrorism now, no more bombings, and haven't you enjoyed seeing Saddam Hussein arrested and all the found weapons of mass destruction that we were told existed? The funniest part is, Clinton took this nation from deficits to surpluses and GW Bush has brought us to huge deficits again, larger than ever, and all of you young guys - you're the suckers who are going to get stuck paying for it. My working years are far less than yours - all the young dumb f***s who support Bush are going to pay for his destruction of the economy for the rest of your working lives. As far as voting for Hillary for president, I might someday. Meanwhile now I am contributing to two different Democrtatic candidates for next year, Dean and Graham. Haven't made up my mind yet. Your advice to vote for Hillary is a good idea, though, but she is not on my short list for 2004.
  16. Can I guess safely that you are white, very white, and are afraid that you won't have all the advantages that you think being white entitles you to have? The "more equal" argument is total bulls***. The playing field being level means that some people might lose the use of the white race card to play. And it is about time. Can you prove other than your own hunch that KW and JM are not being fired because they are black? A lot of teams with a lot worse records than the Sox have not fired their GMs nor their managers. Tell me why they, the white ones with team with worse records, haven't been fired if KW and JM haven't been fired because they are black? And for your last question - what have the white racist policies provided for our country - try Jim Crow laws and segretation and everything this nation went through until the civil rights movement. If that is America to you, white priviledge enforced by law, then go back to the 1950s and before. We had it your way for centuries. Racisim is what this country was all about until then (and obviously still now for some...), and if you are so worried about what will happen to our country because equal opportunity applies, then let me tell you I will fight every step of the way to any return to the 1950s and before. Where our country is headed because of equal opportunity is far, far better than where we have been as a nation.
  17. You wouldn't pay attention if I did, my good friend. But if Florida Marlins want to do whatever they f*** they can, they can, but then they leave MLB and do it on their own. MLB has its rules for its members that are well within constitutional law, case law as well as statute law, and I could cite you any numbers of decisions - you may remember, I am a member of the Michigan Bar Association and I deal with this stuff - and Florida wants to go outside the rules, then it gets fined. I can give you all kinds of links to case law from all kinds of federal courts dealing on employment issues. MLB's policy is very well within established case and statute law. As far as Tex Sox Fan, that argument remains bulls***. You are against ollow gestures, I am against racism. Your argument fails here #1 because Florida did not hire from within the organization now they did, they hired from outside, didn't they. And what did they do, they hired one more f***ing retread from the good old boys network instead of give anyone else a chance. And your argument fails #2 because it is only a hollow gesture if you have a f***ing closed mind. I have done the hiring for various law offices as well as other businesses and corporations, and it is easy to decide who you want and then close yourself out. But when you follow an interview process that is A. established by the rules in place and B. inclusive and C. fair because they give people the right to apply, then you get D. someone who never would have had a chance otherwise who you never would have found otherwise because they would E. never have had a chance and F. your mind was closed and you never would have met and never interviewed them and discovered their potential if you had F. followed the same closed door practices that have denied lots of people in the past. Noe how this began: the same tired old bulls*** that you can't hire who you want. That was an untrue statement. Florida chose to violate an established policy for the organization they they belong to, willingly, because it was their choice - they don't have to be in MLB - for interviewing. They deserve whatever s*** comes their way. There is a lot more to say but I am not going to say it because it will just so in all the wrong places and I would rather like people I know than get into a brawl.
  18. if this is so - do we have a link yet - it would be not for hiring McKeon, but for not interviewing according to the MLB procedures - that should not be too hard to understand, even for any republicans out there - you can hire who you want but there is an MLB interview process that needs to be followed according to MLB rules. you can hire who you want but there is an MLB interview process that needs to be followed according to MLB rules. difference between hiring - and interviewing - I get tired of those who refuse because of (name your reason) to understand the difference.
