  1. the way to settle it is on the field and so far each player it seems has been given a chance to show what they can do - I don't have a personal stake in either player, so whoever emerges as the better player is fine by me
  2. I have high hopes for Kris Honel. Glad to see he is off to a good start!
  3. cubfansteve is the perfect model for a troll and why I am against it and will not do it damn is he an asshole
  4. errors are not meaningless at all, not in any way, shape or form. There are ways to play error free, but that does not mean at all in any way that logically errors are meaningless. I haven't seen enough of CLee yet to determine if he has improved this year defensively as much as has prior seasons. Still too soon for Borchard. We'll see him. I don't think that "Strike out as much as CLee and look slightly less stupid in the outfield" are the grounds for which I want to call anyone up, nor the standard that I wish to set for a player that I think will be outstanding when he does get here.
  5. you know how valid I take the obersevarions of an Illinois student who has never been to Ann Arbor quoting an MSU grad? Final 4 in hockey again - the longest or one of the longest bowl appearance consecutve years streak of any NCAA football school and basketball fallen on bad times but good time ahead - I am very content with Michigan's accomplihments and I know our fans and I'll be in Ann Arbor again this season. All that needs to be said.
  6. Why? Injured? What? It is incredible that one of the last players sent down is seeing so little playing time. Explanation please!
  7. not I - Jimenez has been a most pleasant sujrprise for me thus far. On my next scorecard, he will be listed on a first name basis - a status I reserve for players that are showing something and he has shown a lot in the early going, far more than I expected
  8. Frank taking care of business fills me with hope - no one works harder than frank (excpet maybe Fisk and Clemens) and when Frank is this serious, watch out! And that is good for us!
  9. rip here all you want! it is the trolling and trah talking trolling that reaches IMHO the 7th grade level. But by all leans, in our community, rip away!

    Religous Stuff

Spiff, I found much in tao that relates to, adds to, enhances Judeo/Christian thought - in that they are middle eastern religions in origin may somehow show some connections - but I see taoism as not antithetical to Scriptural faith what a wonderful consort - whatever you would wanmt to say about tao I would love to read - and I am not alone in interest in taoism; there are entire Christian meditative communties that operate in taoist principles and insights I have operated my faith wioth some reliance on the tao since the late 60s when I first encountered it in Frances Fitzgerald's Fire on the Lake. And as far as zen might so - again, many places of congreunce where I would ove to learn more. for natural diasters - earthquakes, forest fires, all those things have their replace as the natural consequence of the nature of the planet - they are destructive only when humans inhabit those places where these things happen. But they are part of the renewal and reshaping of the earth and just a part of natural process, which as in physical life, means changes and ultimaye destinations of death. Without earthquakes, with volcanoes, the world as we know know wouldn't be - without an ice age what the earth would be like is unimanigable - our lakes, rivers, moutains, all because if such natural things. What is scary is people f***ing up the world by havoc on the ecology- global warming may drastically alter the world of our children and grandchildren. A raise of a few degrees of temperature can wipe out the bread basket in the US and create major problems with food production, and these effects may be felt as soon as 2050. My grandson will be 55 then and he and his family will suffer from our refusal to take seriously the destruction of the ozone. And when this happens, as always, the problem causers will be: people.
  11. did I catch somewhere that he is seeing Hrinriak again? Or am I wrong?
  12. I think we are seeing something very special in Olvio. And I am even thinking that his hitting will pick up - maybe not Fiskian numbers, but I see something in him that says he will not be as woeful at the plate as we feared.
  13. didn't Mags go through the Rule 5 drafty maybe 5 times? No one (lucky for us!!!!) saw the potential. Mags was a late bloomer baseball wise and how good for us - but I do think there was a time when CLee was considered the better prospect.
  14. Jason, you didn;t see him play in 2000 in person, did you?? Not a knock, just a question. What he did in 2000 was far beyond the stats. And as far as 98 and 99, playing injured, and he still had what other plares would call great seasons. 2001 - all injury. 2002 - all recovery. What Frank brings is more than just the numbers - the three games that IO saw, I see the signs of Frank reverting to 2000 form and if he does with all the intangibles, then that is worth everything, and we owe it to Frank whose competitive fires burn deep for all he has done to let Frank do this thing. Thre reward will be awesome. And as stats obsessed as he can be, he is a team player. Saw that when Graf ran through a Frank slide sign. Graf scored but it could have been an out and Frank let Graf know he blew it. Frank is out there playing team bal;l and asking the others to do it. That is the type of leadership we need from him, and get friom him, which is often under appreciated or under recognized -- and sure won't be things received from Sosa.
  15. Hmmm.... 1998 and 1999 -- down seasons for Frank when he was injured 2000 -- monster season 2001 and 2002 -- down seasons for Frank when he was injured There's a pattern there. 2003 -- Don't doubt this man...just sit back and enjoy the show (and believe me, the main feature is about to begin). I think we shall see that monster season this season - I really do.
  16. thanks CLuger for the research!!!!! and get a cable connection - this si the 21st century! I think like Jason that we will be siing a few Crede Gold Gloves. Perhaps with Olvio too as the word on him is spreading.
  17. Every once in a while I haev to say that even you Jason even you make a mistake. Sosa is a selfish clubhouse distraction and not needed by us. Frank can carry a team like very few players ever. What we have seen this year, the good eye and the walk, I think we may be seeing another season when Frank carries the team. Sosa will never carry a team, never has.
  18. we aren't warm and cuddly KC has a lovable loser thing going. Minnesota is riding off the team to be contracted being feisty thing. We are a class team - so time to just conduct ourselves as Michigan football team and fans: we expect to win, we act with class, and know everyone hates us because our fans are loyal, and we win. That is something to go for. Acting like class will drive everyone nuts as long as we win - and that won't make us winner of Miss Congeniality, but will be the best position to be in.
  19. He's on pace for 40 errors. A+? oh? what are the stats? and was that early games and he is settling down, one bad game which throws his stats and projections off, or do we see a continuing pattern? I am asking to learn.
  20. not sure I agree or disagree but you have laid out a solid argument to think about, and for that I thank you.
  21. I think Aaron will do it hitting wise. PK traditionally has diasterous Mays. Let's just hope that Aaron is off to a slow start and will get it going because he has shown the ability to do that. A slump period of a few weeks or ever a month (ala PK in May as a rule, or the 2nd half of all last season) is not reason to jettison a player. Patience counts in letting a player develope - it is a team game, we are winning, it is early, let the players get into their roles and normal games.
  22. count me as dead set against trolling. In my opinion, it is immature and serves no purpose to be trashtalking at any time. should they end with a better record than us or sweep or easily take the season series between the two teams, the paybacvk will be hell. The glory of this board is we are troll free and we bait no one by trolling on there boards. The MLB boards have seen all the trash that happens from trolling and a lot of posters left there for here to get away from that thing. We are above that. We are Sox fans for the Sox. We don't need to sink to the 7th grade level of trash talking and trolling. Others can do it - but here we have a community of mature fans of all ages.
  23. a man of Thigpen's age could fall because of a stroke, because of angina, because of passing out due to a pressing anuerism, or purely slipped on wet pavement - I have fallen twice this past winter season and landed very hard both times, on ice - still feeling pain as I wracked my shoulder on the second fall - a person could fall because of sudden lightheadness which would have a pysiological basis - any speculation, including these, but even more assuming alochol, is conjecture that is way out of line.
