Whats funny about that is I've read some Purdue fans on some various message boards say that Deron fouled him... And Im thinking to myself, what the hell are you talking about, Lowe pushes Deron off of him, and then loses the ball. So i dont know what the hell they were seeing. I think my heart finally slowed down, so now i can relax a little...

Somehow Lowe hits another impossible 3 for Purdue, roger puts up a shot.. CLEARLY GOALTENDING...IM SCREAMING AROUND LOOKING THE OTHER WAY, AND CATCH LUTHERS SHOT GOING IN. At that point i twist my ankle and can barely walk... BUT f*** YEAH! WHAT A GREAT WIN!!!!!! GO ILLINI! BIG 10 CHAMPS... NOW TO GET IT TO OURSELVES SUNDAY!
-
Luther is the man! Great penetration, kickout to Auggie for the 3 point play... Illini by 5 with 8 to play!
-
30-30 at the half.

well, we certainly were off to a great start with a 13-2 run to begin the game, but we sure did settle down. We are settling for the outside shot too much as usual, but Purdue is playing with some hard nosed defense and is gonna make this a very difficult win. The point when we were up 4 and then Randle just chucks up a horrible shot from 3 point land, not even hitting rim was a huge turning point i think, we were just about to get momentum and then Dee does the same thing. Dee did get ripped off on a couple shots, 2 3 pointers that were down and out.

When i was checking the listings, the Iowa game was pushed back to 11 pm on tape delay on WCIU in chicago. Because the Illini game is for sure on at 7 on WCIU.

I know, this is exactly my dillemma that i thought about when thinking from a Big 10 fans perspective as well. If Illinois wasnt my team, I'd be pulling for Purdue big time, cause they have no shot if they dont win out and win 2 games in the B10 tourney.
-
I know this game definitly deserves its own thread, and I personally am jacked up for this game. Title is on the line, revenge from the loss at home in January, and Weber facing his old team for the first time at Mackey Arena. Should be fun, Im expecting a very close game and hopefully we can pull it out. Head was suspended last time these 2 teams met, hopefully he can be the factor that puts us over the top. Roger also had 0 points last time we met, he's got to step up like he has been all big 10 season. My prediction: Illinois 61 Purdue 57 GO ILLINI!
-
I'll trust him in Dallas though...
-
I also confirm the WCIU notion, i checked last night since we got screwed by the Bulls last week and not being able to watch the Iowa game.

Dont forget Carlos. He got all of his power numbers and average off of righties last year. Thats one thing that Im hoping he can change, is his numbers against lefties, because if he does that, and still pounds the ball against righties.... we've got another South Side all star!

Lol... thats awesome. Definitly in my top 5 for best SNL skits ever. Baby, I've got a fever and the prescription is more cowbell!
-
Thats just a ploy. He only used those b****es so it wasnt so obvious that he had fine ho's waiting for him at his hotel.
-
Hahah, that middle picture of Keady is hilarious, looks like he's doing a Chris Farley "motivational speaker" skit from SNL. Going off subject, back to Illinois, I like what Izzo said after the game.... "I hope Illinois wins it," Izzo said. "I don't want to win a conference championship backing in. I'm not going to lose any sleep hoping we back our way in." I like the way you think mister... Go Illini!

Wow, I should look closer, i knew it wasnt Marte though... Anyway, yeah, i dont know, i can remember Jim Nantz after the champ. game and said we would be as high as a 2 seed, and him and Packer were stunned we were a 4 seed and that the games, including Duke winning their ACC championship and other conf. games, didnt even matter. So really, im not going to pull for us to lose of course, but if we do, it wont bother me one bit, especially if their is a sleeper team like Michigan, Indiana, Iowa that is trying to get a bid.
-
I agree, I heard Wisconsin used it as an extra incentive to win. BTW, is that picture of Marte in your signature? I know your avatar is clearly Marte, but it doesnt quite look like him with the shades on. Just curious....

ok, now that the Badger scenario worked out nicely, ill agree with both of you, and say, a loss in the big 10 tourney is much better.... (duh) Lets get this title to ourselves, and get ready for some dancing in 2 weeks. I still do think that a loss in the big 10 tourney will only help us going into the national tourney. Although, the whole momentum thing is the only thing that takes that argument away. Go ILLINI!
-
I've been thinking, I've always said that losing b4 the tourney or in the conference tourney really is sometimes a good thing. I mean, your "due" for a loss eventually right? So then, from a big 10 perspective, maybe 2 good things could happen out of Illinois losing... 1) Purdue gets one more quality win, and gives them confidence going into the B10 Tourney after getting destroyed in Badgerland. 2) Illinois gets that loss out of the way, then beats OSU going into the B10 tourney, win that, and off we go to a regional near you? However, one very bad thing, unless Mich St. loses to Wisconsin tomorrow... We dont take the big 10 regular season championship... which draws me to say, Go illini!

We like to dream every year, we're not privledged to have such an elite school such as Kansas. Frankly though, i've said this since the Temple game at the Palestra earlier this year, this is the best squad overall since our Elite 8 run back in 2001. Im not sure we can get a Final 4 run out of us, but dont be surprised to see us dancing around the sweet 16 and into the elite 8. I've had my second guesses about this team all year, especially when we played so bad against Providence and Northwestern, but our latest run has proven that we can string together wins over teams trying to fight their way into the tourney. Early Final 4 Picks, Duke, St. Joes, Miss St., Wake Forest ( I hate the ACC too) Next up for Illinois: A pissed off Purdue team that wont be too happy about Madison. Go Illini!
-
I hope your right man, I think all 3 do have an excellent shot of getting to the sweet 16. Im actually back at my parents house right now, and I busted out Illinois Sweet 16 and Elite 8 matchups on tape against Kansas and Arizona. Its funny the way that Walton and Enburg totally sucked Illinois dick in the Kansas game and then Walton does the infamous "I love my son, so ill trash on Illinois now". By the way Enburg, ITS KRUPALIA, NOT KRUPULA!! Anyway , back to what i was saying, that year Penn St (who got beat by Temple), Mich St. and Illini were all in the Sweet 16 so maybe we can repeat that again. Im way off subject here, anyway, GO ILLINI!

Its not too often a 7' 2 lanky guy doesnt look awkward, and I dont know what DanMan was talking about when it sounded like he was surprised that Nick wasnt missing, he's probably our best shooter from 13-18 feet. He hits that shot consistantly. Also, I really believe that there will be 4 in the tourney for sure from the big 10, (my 4th being Purdue even with their RPI) and like i've said for a while, a shot at 5, because either Michigan, Iowa or even Indiana(if they could get back to what got them in the big 10 lead in the early part of the season) could make a run because the big 10 doesnt have that one dominant team this year, although the Illini are trying there best to become that team. Go Illini... Revenge on Keady next Wed!
-
Lol... i dont think i've ever seen that happen... Lose by 35 but thats not terrible? If they lost by 50, would that be bad then? Regardless, playing at Cameron Indoor is extremely hard, but still, 35 points is still a beatdown of mass proportions.

I still say Frye is Brians Cook's long lost brother. They have exactly the same games. Arizona does suck, I hope Washington can beat Stanford whenever they play, they've got the potential to do it.
