  1. Q deserves a day off. We don't have an off day til next Thursday. Bannister has been brutal so maybe we can get a W without TCQ.
  2. Or Bannister vs. some bum named Vazquez. Man up, Javy.
  3. KTAR 620 in Arizona reports that the Diamondbacks have acquired Adam Dunn from the Reds for three prospects. According to the radio station, the Reds will receive pitching prospect Dallas Buck and two players to be named later. A 2006 third-round pick who returned from Tommy John surgery in June, Buck has a 3.55 ERA and 28/11 K/BB ratio in 50 2/3 innings at Single-A. MLB.com confirms that the Diamondbacks have claimed Dunn off waivers, but reports only that the two sides "are close to working out a deal" for the impending free agent. Aug. 11 - 2:45 pm et
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) Where is that from? Think it was in the Suntimes last week.
  5. Just turned on HBO and "Transformers" is on, and there is Bernie Mac selling that annoying kid a used car.
  6. Ha. I was flipping between Twins/KC and Nats/Brew. Watched KC win, flipped it to other game, and 2 pitched later, Kapler wins it ofr Milwaukee.
  7. God forbid KC gets a clutch hit and win here.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) If Beltre could get to the Sox on waivers, and if Mariners want something decent in return for Washburn, I'd much rather see the Sox do a deal where they get both players in a package. Losing good prospects wouldn't hurt as much knowing that we'd have a 3B under contract for '09 as well. I'd do Poreda + a couple pitching prospects (hopefully without including Griffith, Shirek, or Carter, but one would probably have to go) + all the throw-in guys like Cook, Owens, or Haeger the M's would want, but I doubt that would be enough. Richard, Broadway, and Egbert don't make it through waivers, and I wouldn't want to give up both Shelby and Poreda for those guys. Maybe there would be someone at the Class A level, besides Jose Martinez, who would interest Seattle. That said, I doubt Beltre gets through because he's a guy that teams would be interested in and also know will be available. I like the way you think, but doubt that will be able to get done for both Beltre and Washburn. Jarrod doesn't excite me but what are our options, ya know?
  9. Gload would of got a hit if he was facing us.
  10. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Consider how historically cheap Milwuakee has been, Eric Gagne has to be one of the worst free agent signings of all time. $10 million for a single year. They can't afford to truck him out there in a pennant race.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) let me get this straight. when Ozzie brings in a pitcher to get people out and the pitcher doesnt, it's ozzie's fault? but he doesnt get any credit when dotel induces the double play ball? Pretty much. Some people who post don't wanna blame the players sometimes. It goes both ways.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) BTW, how old is that girl who was singing? She does the National Anthem often, and I have a comment to make, but want to make sure she's 18. I was thinking the same thing. Powerful set of lungs.
  13. That last pitch looked like it got the plate inside. Aj reaching back to get it didn't help.
  14. Ump won't give Matt the outside corner for nothing.
  15. Mike Aviles no showing vs. Twins. God damn it!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Why isn't he starting for them? Guys with that release point don't last long as starters because their stuff doesn't stay deceptive as long. Yeah! Another walk by our bullpen in the later innings.
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) nationally? no....but by sox fans? i feel a bad word is never said about him....and he does plenty of things on the baseball field below average I hate having a catcher who never gets hurt, could play 140 games, and can hit around .300. We all know AJ isn't very good at throwing guys out, but not all teams have a catcher named Molina or Rodriuguez. He didn't stop that one pitch but AJ has been solid at picking and stopping balls in the dirt.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) AJ is such an overrated baseball player IMO Overrated? AJ gets no recognition.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) So we have Thornton warming up....why in the hell did Ozzie leave Gavin in to face Casey? Terrible managing continues Than Francona counters with Youkilis. I would of rather seen Casey up, even if he did single.
  20. Sean Casey would of been a great DP candidate if Gavin gets the ball down.
